RE: 30 min. Conversation w/ WHA Founder....

Guys.....I'm not choosing a side, here. I don't think that's called for, at this point. I just gave the man credit for wanting to open a dialogue.

There are people who do things in the hunting worldEVERY DAY that I might personaly have a moral/ethical/etc... conflict with.....but as long as they're not breaking the game laws of their respective state.....you'll not here me come on here (or anywhere) and bash them.

Not on my agenda.....and it's (in MY opinion) not good for hunting.

The jury's still out on the WHA (again...in my opinion). What it INITIALLY stood for......wasn't "hunting" (again....my opinion)...so I saw no conflict in speaking out against it. What it "might" be......is, again.....yet to be seen. I'll revert back to the innocent until proven guilty.

Fair enough

For the record I too will no longer try to stop the WHA through legal method. The drugging of the deer was my main issue. Now it is just like any lame brain hunting show.8 guys in 1000 acre cage shooting deer, wow sound like fun to me, lol

My thoughts exactly, except for the fun part ;)which is why I say the WHA is essentially DOA. There is no "World" in WHA, only a "Fence."

My problem was with the darting / harrassment of the deer - now that is gone. We put up a good fight and won!
I say we let the new "FHA" rest in peace.

Lest you missed this statement, Hazcon...

HE doesn't think his concept is "dead".

Thanks Greg, I understand that. Perhaps I should have said, "We won a battle" instead. The fight against our tradition will never end, be it from the FHA, canned hunts, PETA, dwindling public land, the ever encroaching outfitters, etc.

To me, the concept of rewarding the harrassment of caged deer with darts/drugs was the problem.
WHA had no choice but to kill that concept. Now the FHA only has a handful of participants, very few sponsors, and are under a very watchful public eye. They may exist but are still DOA, IMHO.

Jeff I respect your choice, but my guess is you will not be supporting this idea. It is nice they have all these rules, but it is still killing deer in a cage.

Gary (Swoosh) you are all over the place man. You just posted on AT the other day this line regarding high fences:

It all depends on how the ranch is managed. Some ranches are just like hunting real wild deer, and some are not. I have seen guys walkup to a deer and pile a broadhead into in fenced in area.

As far as the 10k Challenge, hey I may get lucky!!! Will see, I have a challenge for you guys, come hunt Huron National Forest here in MI, I bet you do not even get your bow back!! These deer walk thru the woods looking up into the trees. I hunt my farm and its 10 easier to shoot a deer then in public land. I bet when you get a deer in front of you in a HF low pressure it is easier then my farm. It all comes down to pressure, if they are in a HF and pressured they are going to be tough to get.

Ok, how am I all over the place? My main concearn was the drugs, they are gone. Read my post from above.

If you or anyone else want to hunt in a cage that is up to you. If any wild whitetail deer is pressured they go nocturnel. Which makes them tough to get. Now the ranch in MI has purchased these deer from game farms. Not to many wild ones in the bunch.

What they will not tell you is I was talking about a hunters own property, not a game farm with penned raised deer.

This is the WHA attempt to discredit those who oppose them.

I think we agree some ranches run very well, I still will never go hunt them. What a person does with their property is their business.

There is a huge difference in what the WHA is doing and what some ranch owers do.

Why don't you fill out the rest of your profile?
