Peanuts

What's going on.... stupid question, but one I have to ask....

I work at one of the largest candy manufacturers in the world (M&M Mars)... and we have an excess of peanuts that they pretty much throw away when they expire. A guy that works here tries to tell me that deer LOVE peanuts... has anyone ever heard such a thing? I'm debating on setting up a camera over this type of bait pile. Comments?

How many hours do you have to work to get your hands on those peanuts? ;)

Yep...We raise peanuts on our farms in eastern NC...They eat the vines in the spring and summer and after we harvest them they eat the peanuts...Most farmers bail the vines after the harvest...btw...Black bears also love peanuts...they sit on the row and dig them up and eat the nuts, they can destoy 25-40 yards of a row in one night...In addition, squirrels, turkeys and racoons also love peanuts.

The feed we utilize in our feeders has peanuts mixed in it. The deer LOVE it. I'd suggest making your own little mix up. They really have a strong scent when you crush the peanuts, too.

I recently tried this stuff called Buck Fuel, with molassas and peanut butter on my salt stump and they are really digging at it.

Word of caution......

I went from straight corn to a corn/peanut mix in my feeders, last year. The peanuts will definitely put a new scent in the area. It took my deer a little while to get accustomed to the new scent.

Just a thought......
