Depends where the front leg is, forward, it will almost completely expose the heart. Then ofcourse there are quartering shots...

I shot thru the shoulder blade and hit the bottom of the spine and still penetrated thru the deer with a magnus stinger.

Thanks alot.It seems to me that the shoulder blade is almost completly covering the heart. If that is true then how do people get heart shots without shooting through the shoulder?
I don't see how the shoulder "blade" could ever cover the heart if you look at the diagram. The shoulder "bone" could cover the heart if the deer is walking or quartering toward you.
