Shooting from a Tree Stand

Could someone explain how shooting from a treestand is different from the ground. I overheard two guys talking about shooting from a stand today at the range. I understand that the angles are going to be different but is there any thing else I must take into consideration. Thanks

The distance to the target is the horizontal distance not the path of the arrow. Also you need to bend at the waist to maintain proper form,it'easy to just rotate your shoulders but your shot may go high. Also the sight picture of the vitals is different viewed from different angles. Get on a stamd and shoot at some 3-d targets. Balconies can be tricky since often the railing is in the way causing you to lean over and hurt your form.

Just my 2 cents. Aim for the exit. Know where your arrow will enter and exit the animal.
Practice, practice, then you can practice some more!

you will find that your arrow will hit a little higher from a tree then on the ground but the best thing to do is just practice from a tree and set your bow up for that if you are going to be doing alot of tree stand hunting but still the small raise in the arrow wont make a difference.

Yep, best to practise it from an elevated position. I spent some time yesterday resetting things after practising shots from 5 yrds to 25 yrds. At 5 I was slightly high, maybe an inch, from there on out it jumped to 4+inch's. Reset the sites and drilled an apple from 10 out to 25. Some shots will be close but most from a stand will be between those distances. Will spend some time soon setting up to 45 my farthestanticipated shot.

It can't be stressed to much... Practise the shots that could be taken.
