"Ameri"step?

When I logged in tonight I noticed a recallof 2 Ameristep treestands because they can and have collapsed. It was also disclosed that they were made in China. I'm a little ticked that a product that I bet my life on is made in China and then the company has the balls to call itself "Ameri" step.

You must be speaking of the voluntary recall for the "Outfitter" and "Patriot" treestands. I see they are offering a free upgrade kit to replace the hang on straps/hooks. These are supposed to be two of the best hangons Ameristep makes. They also tell you to throw the old ones away.

You'd be surprised at how many and which treestand companies have them made in China now.[:'(]

All manufactured treestands have to meet standards accepted by the industry , and our incessant demand for quality products at Salvation Army store prices has promted many manufacturers to move production overseas to cut cost . If you don't like that buy from a company that you know for a fact manufactures their products here and be ready to pay the much higher price .

Who makes up the TMA.........the treestand manufacturers themselves. I do believe most stands are safe, but I've examined some that I wouldn't place a lot of faith in.

About us wanting cheaper products..........thats true of all products, but I prefer quality over price when my life depends on it.

Bingo.... America's general population has very little interest in domestic products. All they careis that they get the cheapest (INSERT PRODUCT NAME HERE) so they can buy a double mocha cappafrappachino..... Hence WalMart becoming the largest retailer in the world.

Unfortunately, some of us can barely get by and when it comes to hunting stuff, it's buy cheap or go without...
