STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
Is anyone on here using Steelforce broadheads ? To those that have please give me your results on deer...... The y have a small diameter so I am wondering. I know they shoot great (out of my well tuned bow) they go through my targets and into the plywood 3' behind it... so I have accuracy, and penetration...but now Im wonderin what they do on game..... Iam asking becuase Ill be in Indiana, and Illinois next week with them screwed on my arrows......I chose them with Shockwaves and Muzzy's close behind..... Thanks guys Tom |
RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I used them last year and as you said they were very accurate. I took a nice 7 point buck with it and the shot was a complete pass through. The buck was only about 10 yards out and I was pretty high up the tree so the exit hole was low. The deer went a couple of hundred yards before dying (a beagle was chasing it after I shot it and I only got one lung). I didn't have a great blood trail but that was because of the low exit wound. The broadhead definitely did it's job and it flies extremely well.
Hope this helps. |
RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I've seen one stuck in a concrete block last nite at the archery range. The bh didnt fail. After all that, and taking into consideration they fly well....heck ya I'd use them LOL!

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I have taken a couple of bucks with them. They performed well and could have been shot again. They are some of the sharpest heads you will find too.

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I have used them for practice and they held up very well, hitting points and such that might have been stuck inside the target. They fly very well, also. I did kill a small buck this past week, unfortunately hit him high as it grazed off an unseen branch, but dropped him in his tracks with a spine shot. The arrow did not pass through (although I am not sure it should), but did penetrate close to the far side. A quick finishing shot put the buck away very quickly, again didn't pass through because of how the deer was laying, but good penetration and. The initial shot broke off in the animal, I will examine the broadhead when I get it back from the butcher to see if held together.

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I have been using them for about three years now. In PA and NJ. They seem to always pass through. I have not had a deer go more than 30yds. after the hit. Until they stop doing that, I'm stuck on them! I used Thunderheads before and it was hard to get me to change from them. I'm glad I did. They hold up pretty good, but I seem to buy more when the season comes around. Just so I know the are sharp.

FYI: They have some sort of free lifetime sharpening...I realize you would have to send them out in time for the season...just in case you didn't know. Brian |

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
They suck, Bleeders always broke and had to replace them. changed to muzzys and never had to replace a broken blade yet

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I have not shot any animals with them, but they are a very good broadhead. I have tested two differnt models and they are growing on me. I think they will preform very well for you.

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
Seano -
How many times did you re-use, shoot the heads ? I personally will only shoot a head once before replacing the blades, or resharpening.... Just curious. By the way - I have a pack of Muzzy's too..... but after watching the steelforce head go all the way through my target (same head) 15 times and sticking in the plywood I have 4 feet behind the target I started realizing that these things must be awesome .... when you see it go THROUGH your target that stops everything else it makes you realize that cut on contact broadheads clearly have an advantage - IF they shoot straight. These shoot better than my Muzzy's though..... |
RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
BJK, Thanks I know about the free sharpening. It just seems that when the season comes around I have to buy something<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>I use my old ones for practice and back-ups.

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
I shoot the broadheads quite often and resharp them. It's just that the bleeders always broke off and I had to keep replacing them. Other than that, it would be fine. I just like my muzzys because have never had a blade broke on me yet and they've always passed through for me.

RE: STEELFORCE BROADHEAD USERS ???
i dont shoot them personally but a friend does and he shot a big doe at the start of the season and he hit her high on the opposite shoulder and it penetrated over into the big bone into the opposite shoulder asnd just destroyed it, broke the shoulder into about 50 different fragments, i swear it did more damaged then most slug wounds ive seen, the bleeder blade did brake off but that makes liitle difference as she only went 40 yds did a somersault and died.from what ive seen they do what they are supposed to.
