RE: Whitetail Limits
In Texas, the county in which I hunt, the bag limit is 3.
This allows you one buck and two antlerless (all seasons combined). The buck must have an inside spread of at least 13 inches to be legal, (or) also have at least one unbranched antler (spike).
You have to be lightning fast to measure the spread before you shoot him!!! (This, of course, has drastically reduced the number of buck kills. They're just to darn hard to catch before you shoot them!)

Here in Maine we have our regular (Special) archery season September 28 - October 27, 2006 which is open state wide allowing 1 kill either sex. We also have expanded archer Sept 9th - Dec 9th which is limited to basically coastal regions allowing 1 buck permit for $32.00 and multiple antlerless permits for $12.00 each.

Man...you guy's are going to hate me. In North Alabama you can kill in the neighborhood of 200 deer in one season. There are no tags, no weigh stations, or no checking in. You buy the liscence for $15 then hunt to your hearts content. From Oct 15 - Jan 7, you can kill 2 does a day or1 buck and1 doe a day. Then from Jan 8 - Jan 31 you can kill 1 buck a day. Archery season is from Oct 15 - Nov 17 this year. After that it is gun for the rest of the time.
