If you could, would you?

First, I am an ethical hunter and this question is only hypothetical.

If you had filled you buck tag and after the fact a buddy offered for you to take an additional buck on their tag, would you?

Let's tempt you further. Say on your private land there were more mature bucks, maybe even one larger than you harvested earlier in the year.

Answer honestly.

In NY doe permits are transferable but buck tags are not.

It is common practice among people I know to get tags for there wife, daughter etc. etc. I have not done this but it is happening.

I would probably pass, I get two buck tags and usually spend the better part of three months to fill those. I am pretty burnt out by the time I fill the second.

IN truth I hope I wouldn't and don't think I would if I lived in a place where you can only take one buck. BUt here in Nj I can take more than I need and or want So no I wouldn't. But even if it might be tempting NO I wouldn't do it as it is just wrong.

No I wouldn't. Here in Iowa I can get a landowner's tag for a dollar(either sex) and a paid tag $26.00(either sex). So that's 2 bucks. Then on top of it we have an over population of does so the DNR has issued 400 antlerless tags for my county alone which can be purchased. The first one is full price $26.00 and then after that they are only $11.00 apiece! And you can buy as many as you want! Why fool with gaming laws and get your hunting prevlidges taken away forever? I can no longer hunt with modern firearms because of violating the law when I was younger. The only thing I'm allowed to do now is bowhunt. Take my word for it. You don't realize how much you have to lose until it's gone. Keep it legal.

No way.

That's why many on the board have a buck tag still left at the end of the season - they were waiting to use their last or only buck tag for the "right" buck...

I can take as many does as I have purchased tags ($26 for 2), but I can ONLY take 2 bucks all season - no matter the method (ie. bow, shotgun, handgun, smokepole).

hold on if I am reading this right, what you are saying they offer a buck to you with thier tag on it not your's so there fore you would still have your 2nd tag left,I dont see the problem with it,To be truthfull though I would take the deer but I would let them know I was going to give it to some who could really use it,I think everyone here read this like I did the first time thinking that if they took the buck then they would be done.

If you already filled your buck tag, and you were hunting and shot a buck, and you have someone else's buck tag on you and not one of your own, your busted. Seems stupid. Here in MO anyway. Not worth it, if you weren't happy with the buck you shot earlier in the year, you shouldn't shoot it. I wouldn't do it. Here in MO its not really an issue anyway, we have 2 archery buck tags, one or 2 firearms buck tags, and like 5-7 doe tags you can buy (some for only $5 each).
