Licking Branch

I remember watching a tv show where a guy on there was talking about making a mock licking branch. And he would zip tie a branch to a tree in an area close to his stand where there were no low lying branches that could be used. Then i believe that he would place buck scent around the area to simulate a new buck marking territory, and therefore the "regular" bucks in the area would begin to repeditively check the branch to leave there scent. And he said he would replace the branch before the leaves would go brown so that it seems like a real branch growing off of the tree. I know of mock scrapes, but has any one else tried this. and if so, how early should u make this mock licking branch.

RE: Licking Branch

Never heard of doing such a thing. Sounds like too much extra work. Why not just find a n area wiht a low lying branch. Ive seen deer use braches 6-7 feet off the ground as licking branches.
