Try scrubbing it with a wire brush or maybe some steel wool before you spray it. That should break up some of the shine and maybe help keep it
from coming back so fast.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I will try to see what I can do. Hopefully I can get one more season out of it and then pull the pin on a DB.
