I use neon post-it notes. Cheap and a good sized target.

Trust me, if I could shoot that tight of group (that was at 23 yards) everytime I shot, I'd be shooting aspirin out the air along side Byron Ferguson. Only problemI have isreality. [:@] |
RE: How small is your target?
I foundthose expanding ear plugs work really well. Twist it between your fingers and place it in the target.

RE: How small is your target?
At the archery shop we put a ping-pong ball on a string and shoot at those. Lots of fun and pretty darn tough from 40 yds...for me at least!

RE: How small is your target?
I never saw a deer walking around with little dot stickers in thier vitals :D I just shoot at the spots on the block target or do the 3D thing.
|
RE: How small is your target?
I put the 1" dots on my target. It has improved my shooting overall.

RE: How small is your target?
I practice at a 3D. I sight in with a small leaf or whatever is lying around the target to aim at. I like practicing at the plain 3D with no dots or anything b/c like it helps me get used to picking out a spot instead of focussing on the obvious dot.

RE: How small is your target?
When I was a kid, my dad and I would take old bent arrows and stick them in the ground in front of the target and take turns trying to cut it. If you didn't cut it at the designated mark, it didnt count.
Knew a guy in high school(I knowI know, Inever beleived him either)who swore he could light a strike anywhere match without breaking it. We tried alot, but only succeeded in busting them.:) Always wanted to try the bottle opener trick though! :D |
RE: How small is your target?
I put quarter size dots on my target . Aiming at small tagets helps to shoot tighter i have found

RE: How small is your target?
I had an old 3D McKenzie deer target , I shot it so much in the boiler room thatit has a hole right thru it so I used bottle caps to plug it up and shot at that.
I now have a new Glen Del 3D Buck thanks to my wife, she bought it for me as a brithday present last April. |

RE: How small is your target?
3" circle...w/a 2" inner circle.
This picture is from 40 yards. |
RE: How small is your target?
When I am practicing at long range (over 60 yrds) I hang a pop can in fron of the target. It is easy to see and and it makes me feel good when I hear the ting as I hit it....which isnt every time of course:D

RE: How small is your target?
I do most of my shooting at night by the floodlights. My bag target has pretty much had the paint wore off so it doesn't show up at night.
I shoot for center of mass mostly, which helps because it's more like taking actual shots on a deer. You'd be surprised what you can do when you concentrate solely on form and repetition! My "no spot" groups are often better than when I'm shoting at spots! |
RE: How small is your target?
1" dots on my block target in the yard for tighting my groups and hitting where I aim. 3D courses are the best for practicing visializing a dot on the target aiming and releasing best pratice for hunting besides hunting.

RE: How small is your target?
I've been known to push golf ball tees in the wall and shoot at them. We also hang ping pong balls in front of the wall.

RE: How small is your target?
I like to aim at a target that is large enough for me to execute 45 shots in a row and hit it every time, even the fliers. This is the best way to train for rhythm, and repetition after your execution is 100% from lots of blank bale. I did about 1.5 weeks early this summer of executing shots at a 6" circle from 10-20 yards, then another 1.5 weeks shooting at a 3" circle from 10-20 yards. I was shooting about 500 arrows a week at that point. I still do this once a week for a whole practice session. If you can do this, then shrink it down and you would be amazed how many times you can hit a vegas x-ring in a row. When you just relax and keep it floating in the a spot trusting it while focusing and staring a hole through the X you would be surprised at what your capable of. My best vegas game I hit X's 36 times out of 45.
