Iowa Buck
Last week while visiting my son in Iowa he took me out one evening to check out a buck that he had been watching for the last few weeks. What a pig! I am trying to tell him to let him grow one more year since I have two preference points and should draw a tag next year.:eek::eek:

I know I'm going against the grain here,but if you have enough ground where you feel you'll have a crack at him next year, I say wait.
 I know it's a summer picture but he gives me the impression of a 4 year old not a 5- 6 year old. Could you IMAGINE what he would look like next year? Just looking at the photos gets the ticker pumping a little harder. See ya, I've gotta go shoot, gettin ready for KS. :) |

oh baby i love my iowa whitetails...i once knew a 3.5 year old of that size (but he had split brow tines, grossed over 180. someone else got to him first) so yea if you think he will survive let him grow....

He looks like he might be in his prime. He might have another year of growth, but I wouldn't be so sure. Someone else might take him first.

Unless that buck was hanging with a giant non-typical that you were trying for, there is no one that would pass on a B&C buck like that.

This will be my first year deer hunting IOWA, week of November 12th, zone 5. With GOD's blessing a deer like that walks within bow range even on the first day, I will take it
