What part of darts or billiards make is a susceptibleactivity to be on OLN? I'm just not getting it? And why does it last for hours?

I just moved and had to get cable, landlord wouldn't let me have dish. [:@]

Now, I don't get to watch any bowhunting videos. IMO, OLN sucks and whats this I saw on a commercial about them changing their name.

Billiards are OK also.

Now if the point is"why on OLN", then yes I agree. Outdoor Life should be things that are done specifically "in the outdoors".
(but sorry, that does include biking, hiking, running, etc)

They have been showing some darts on either ESPN, ESPN 2, or Fox Sports Midwest(can't remember which). Nothing wrong with darts I guess, but I'd much rather see them show some footage of major IBO or ASA tournaments.

I absolutely cannot stand OLN. Nothing but bullriding, darts, billiards, survivor, hockey, bicycling. Once in a while they show fishing or hunting but even when they show hunting it's usually some idiot on an African safari driving up to a herd and blasting something. I wish comcast in Mid Michigan would offer the Men's Channel or the Outdoor Network.

It isseldom that I turn to OLN that I find a hunting or fishing show. I can't stand when they have all the cycling. Yeah, it's an outdoor activity, but they justgo overboard. Maybe for an hour at the absolute most, but it has got to be one of the most uneventful and boring things going, especially when it is the only thing on for hours upon hours. Ihave seenthe darts and billiards on OLNall right. Who in the right mind would put that on an "outdoors" channel anyway? I never knew that indoor activities could qualify as outdoor activities... Maybe if they had at least played it outside? But no, it was all indoors, unless my silly eyes are playing more tricks on me. And the bull riding gets on my nerves also. Not my cup of tea. When all else fails I just turn to the History Channel...but one time I had switched from an infomercial to the History Channel only to find a documentary about infomercials.[&:]At that point I went outside and went for a run...

Soon, Only Lance Network will be changed to "Versus". Yes, it's true.... They are changing their name and totally removing the "outdoor" reference and all. So, starting in September, OLN will be "Versus". :eek:

I watch ESPN2 on Sunday mornings which shows hunting shows. (They even show Tom Miranda shooting a buck in the far end of the guts, near the hip - what the heck type of shot was that?!?!) [:'(]

I have no problem with darts. have any of you ever watched it on tv the announcer who says the scores after every throw gets really in to it like its world cup soccer or something

From 10pm to 7am every day they show either Survivor reruns or Bullriding.

Don't get me wrong, I like a good rodeo as much as the next guy, but come on!

Sure, they show hockey, but unless it's the playoffs or cup finals I'm watching NESN for the bruins anyhow [8D]

Oh my gosh, I forgot about the survivor reruns. Are they just broke and can't show anything good or what? They would do better with more hunting shows I think. ESPN II shows more hunting than OLN now.

Yeah I agree Wayomic and Ulti, I throw darts a couple nights a week and I like pool too, but that is by no means an outdoor activity. They should move Tred Barta to the Outdoor channel and get rid of OLN all together.

If you don't like what they show don't watch it. Changing their name to Versus probably means you will see even fewer hunting-fishing shows. Bottom line is if you want to see good hunting shows you will have to buy the DVD. Most of the hunting shows are a crock anyway. Fair chase my butt. Most of these so called professionals are put on a stand by the outfitter and told about when the monster buck will come by. Shooting the deer is the easy part. By the way, Barta is a complete moron. I would never hunt or fish with someone like him.

Since I got the Outdoor Channel last July, I am not sure I have even watched OLN.

It is sad to think that it was all (besides ESPN) I had to rely on before last year.

Huh! I don't watch it dude. Do you? I think the roots of that channel we're outdoor hunting and fishing activities, not pool and darts and survivor reruns. People pay for outdoor channels because they want to watch the outdoors. Hunting shows are for entertainment and it sucks that some are fenced in hunts, but i'd rather watch that than 5hours of darts. So I could care less if they change the name of the channel, I wish they would just drop it off my TV altogether.

I'm not gonna read thru this thread, cuz I'll just get more ticked off at myself for switching cable companies. I have OLN but NEVER watch it. I used to whave The Outdoor Channel and watched it all the time. Now I spend my time visiting forums on the 'puter while my wife watches SoapNet [:@]

They need to do a little swapping with espn II. trade a few pool tournaments for some hunting shows. I find it weird that a sports program shows more hunting and outdoors than an outdoor channel. I'd trade OLN for the mens channel any day of the week. I used to have mens when i had dish network and it was okay. They used to show "christensen arms outdoors" y'all remember that one? I loved that show because when it came on it shows that shot of the bucks fighting and the one buck just body slams the other one. That was awesome, I bet some of you remember. Does that show still air?

Yea the gold shows look like they were made in the 70's. How old are those shows? or are they just new shows with bad cameras?
