Bow presses wich one?
Id like to start doing my own string work servings, peeps, silencers, etc. Will a portable press do or would it just make me want a full size and regret spending the money. If anyone has any tips on models or manufacturers that I should look for Id sure apprciate it thanks in advance.......hill

RE: Bow presses wich one?
I bought a Bowmaster portable bow press from Cabela's a few years ago . It has saved me money and time traveling back and forth to the pro shop for the minor things .

IMHO the portables just don't cut it.I have had a couple different ones and was not impressed by either.
I bought an APPLE Pro Hercules press a couple years ago (probably best archery related purchase I ever made). No more headaches with a full size press and also much faster to use. |
RE: Bow presses wich one?
I would rather have a full size press then a portable. I think you'd regret getting the portable in the long run. Another option is to make a full size press. If you have access to a welder and drill press then it is fairly simple and inexpensive (depending on where you get materials around $50). Either do a search here (site with plans was just posted either here or in technical within the last 2-3 weeks) or e-mail and I have some plans.

RE: Bow presses wich one?
Don't spend money on a portable unless you do a lot of traveling to hunt.
Some bows don't like portable presses limbs twist or you can nick a limb. Buy a full size press. You can build one for $50.00 or less. http://www.homestead.com/gecl/press.html Check out this I built one like this. I tried not welding but bolted pivots on it worked real well. I also used 1/8" tubing not 3/16" no problems I have pressed 4 bows so far one was pressed will set for 105lb. Hunting is nature. It is our nature to hunt. I'm not a hunting fanatic just a hunting addict. Edited by - fastfire on 01/13/2002 07:46:46 |

Go with the full size one.

I would get a full size press and a portable. You will find the both will come in handy. I don't use my portable that much, but when I need it it's a life saver!
