I question the "Pro" in some Pro Shops...
 

I was at the shop for a while today, and I see this quite frequently. This guy was shooting a bow who's DL was about 2" too short. I noticed it and asked him if were comfortable shooting. He of course stated he wasn't, and though he told the guy at the selling shop that, the "Pro" insisted it were right. Man, that just gets under my skin!!! [:@]

Why do places care more about selling a bow, ANY bow, than selling the right one to a person?? We fixed the guy up, but that's a good way to turn someone away from our sport. Sorry, had to vent a little. I just get quite upset about that.

I'd hate to get into my experiences at some of our local "pro" shops... Don't have that much time to type.

So this was a fellow "pro" at the shop where you work? Did you give him some advice afterwards?

We fixed about 12 or so Archery setups today.. Anything from Bows to arrows and they way they were set up or cut.. I think 11 of the 12 people that came in had bought their setups at a very large retailer and they were all messed up.. Not sure if I should give the names, probably not.. But either way I couldn't agree more...

Another reason I am self reliant as well with all the necessary equipment.

A big reason MO is because alot of bow shops simply don't have enough "experienced" guys working there. Going to a pro shop doesn't automatically mean your getting the correct service. And that's all over the place. Most times pro shops are better than big box stores....but they certainly aren't ALL the time. It's a shame to charge what they do and yet you still don't know what type of knowledgable service you will get. The exact reason why I'm not one of the die hards that insist all of my hard earned $$ goes towards bow shops only. I will and do buy the best deal out there. Most of the time it's surfing the net.

Same here Rob. I just feel sorry for new archers that don't
know any better get a raw deal from someone like that. They could
be set up all wrong and not realize it.

same here it might take me a while to get every thing set up right but it fits me and feels good i even had a pro shop put the wrong size string and cable on a bow they carry i think he just wanted to charge me more no wonder all the pro shops are shutting down around here

No, different shop about 20 miles away. We've seen quite alot of this come out of this particular shop.

Xtec, I agree, but that's not the case here. These guys have been in business forquite a few years, though with service like that, I'm not sure why.

I just simply don't think that bow shops are hurting for cash as some make it sound sometimes. I don't personally know these people, but I know "of" 3 local bow shop owners. And BELIEVE ME when I say, they aren't hurtin for $$ in anyway shape or form.
