ORIGINAL: drhntr178 Does anyone think that an arrow could go completely inside a house when shot from a distance of approximately 66.6 yds? at a very slight angle. through siding. Itwould all depepend on the bow, arrow and the house's construction. But yes, it could. (not counting hitting a window, etc) Example. My brother tried out my bow a few weeks ago. Completely missed the target and hit his garage instead. At25 yards the arrow went completely thru the 3/4" solid cedar siding, the 3/4"exterior grade plywood sheathing, 3" of fiberglass insulation and 1/2" gypsum board with only the last4" of the arrow still in the wall. Had it been an older house or lighter materials itcould have gone completely thru. |
RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
The answer is yes!!! It went thru the siding, insulation, and stuck out the drywallinside the home. Almost all the way thru....the fletchings were coming out of the drywall.

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
I would have got my butt kicked for shooting in the general direction of a house. Thats plain stupid.

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
Well look at it this way,now you know you should have no problem getting ashoot-thru with a deer.
(either that or that you are almost ready to go House Hunting. [8D]) |
RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
Well i have seen one arrow go through a gutter of a house and stick into the facial board at about 60 yds. Buddy o' mine richocheted one off top of a deer target so yes i think it could happen ex-cept with a brick house

I am just lucky to have nice neighbors.

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
Just for curiosity, how did you manage that one?

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
That's some serious KE!!! LOL

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
I missed a bag target at 15 yards in my buddies basment (I was sighting in and he told me to use the second pin, so I think it was more his fault.) and the arrow stuck in the block wall of the basement. So I would guess that an arrow won't have any trouble going through a house, but 60+ yards it might not have.

RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
Alright, I will tell the story. To get the longest shot, 35 yards,in my back yard i must shoot parellel to my house. I have a six foot privacy fence that an arrow cannot go thru, the next neighbor over doesnt have kids and never goes in the back yard. he also has a six foot privacy fence. Anyway i was pulling back, almost at full draw and my release went off. i was still pulling back, not aiming and the arrow shot off... thats when i heard it hit siding about three houses down. My house sits very high in the subdivision so it went into their house about nine feet up into their living room wall, sticking out to the fletchings.
I talked to my neighbor and she wasnt even upset. I told her i would fix everything. Tonight, i patched up the hole in the drywall. I expected to get my butt chewed out, which is what i would have done if roles were reversed. I got lucky. I thought about completely shutting down my backyard range BUT i love shooting too much, so from now on i will only shoot 20 yards...straight at my own house. And i am getting a new release. |
RE: NEED HELP!!!!!
Things could have been alot worse. That arrow could have been alot lower and made its way in to someone's favorite chair.
Everybody has bad luck every now and then. Glad yours turned out to be partly good luck.:) They have any siding left over from building the house? |
