Sweet surprise...pictures
I went out to pull my trail camera (Wildview 2.0) out of my bow hunting area to take it up North tomorrow to put over a bear bait. When I was looking at the pictures I found this and was very pleasently surprised. Bear are not common in this area. Especially one this big.
How much would you say he weights? |

last one ..... he is checking things out.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
I'm no expert at guessing weight, but I can tell you he is BIG!
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
Wow, that is big! I have no idea how much it weighs, but it looks to be at least 450 lbs. What part of the state is he in?
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
Wow, that is one huge bear. I would focus on that guy.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
I was thinking he was some where around 350-400 pounds. He was in between Hudson and River Falls in St. Croix county.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
I'll go about 350 on him, definitely a nice one! By the time season rolls around, he'll be heavier too. Good luck with him/her!
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
Hard to tell, because there is nothing known to compare him to. But I'd say 400-450#.

RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
It is so hard to tell the weight of a lone bear with nothing to judge it off of. Just a suggestion I would take a pic of yourself or a hunting buddy in the same spot. Then you will kind of have a reference of his height and weight. The fact that the bear is laying there tells me he is probably the boss bear in that area. I would have say he is around 300#. Very nice bear.

RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
Nice bear. Always tough judging, but mine two years asgo went 320, and he is bigger than mine was.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
well hes a bit smaller than the one we chased out of our back 40 this spring and we guessed that one around 550, id say this one 450-500 easilly.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
I'd say 300-350, but I don't see many bears anymore since I moved to IL.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
That is a big bear, I would say 500 lbs.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
That's a nice, nice future rug! Hope you get him.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
that is by me in stillwater, I have to drive two hours to try and see one. I would love to see a bear. And one that big...... holy cow!
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
Man thats a nice looking bear no matter how big he is. He is a one bad dude thats for sure.

RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
What part of Wisconsin is this beast in? I have a few Bear on some property I hunt on located in Oconto County, but nothing of this size. Nice pictures!
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
350-400lb bear. A 400 lb black bear is a monster. My brother has a 3/4 mount of one at 400lbs and it's a friggin hoss.
|
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
I hope I can get a crack at one that size in a couple week's when I return from my bear hunt .
If I was to take a guess I'd guess 350 to 400lbs as well. He's definately large and sure would make a nice rug. nubo |
RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
That is a big bear. From the looks of that last picture, you are lucky he didn't start munching on your camera.

RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
Buck Knife... You might be able to start hunting bear closer to home sooner than you think! I have a good friend who lives about 10 miles outside of Hudson and they had a good sized bear in their yard a couple of weeks ago. From what he said there had been some articles in the paper about how the population was picking up around therea bit and obviously there were starting to be more and more bear/human encounters because of more houses being built.

RE: Sweet surprise...pictures
