Common sense it what the Hunters safety class and the Bow hunter class is all about in New York State. And you are any idiot can pass it, all you need to have is Common Sense. But it is not just the instructors responsible to be aware of the rules. You as a sportsman’s all follow a code of Ethics. And for you to sit in your Bow class and or hunters safety class and not say anything to the instructor, Conservation officer, Game warden about the all pass clause, you are failing the class just as bad as someone who misses all 25 common sense questions it takes to pass the bow class.

For the majority of you I bet you grew up hunting having the tradition passed down. Instead of shooting off your mouth about people being Idiots, maybe you can all take the time and set up a program where you donate time to take new hunters out on there first few hunts. Or have a list of first time game trackers you can meet with when you take one of you many deer. If you all are not willing to help educate you are just as big of problem as inexperienced hunters…!!!!! It takes time in the woods and it takes mistakes to learn. I could read every book about being a doctor and know them cover-to-cover, but I don’t get real world experience I am worthless doctor.

And if you think there should be a "competency field test" get off your butts and make some noise about it. It does not good to anyone to talk the talk but sit in you tree stand and bitch about other hunters… Make a difference and improve hunting for everyone… But then you will have nothing to wine about….

As for going out and spending tons of money on hunting equipment, Gear, Lisences... In NYS all the taxes on this stuff goes to improve public hunting land, and to hunters in general

Well now aren't you the &quot;special&quot; one. Can't post a reply on the thread of a topic like the rest of us Remy 15? What's up with that? Guess you feel you have the ultimate response worthy of it's own space on the message board not to be mixed up and convaluted with the lowly responses of other unqualified members? First of all, nobody said inexperienced hunters or beginners were idiots. I do take beginners out to hunt, I do help beginners track, and I do help beginners learn to shoot. What member ever said they weren't &quot;willing to help educate&quot; others? You seem to be a very presumptuous individual. And you mention that if I think there should be a &quot;competency field test&quot; then &quot;get off my butt and make some noise&quot;?...well, I don't think my asking opinions of hundreds of bowhunters is exactly keeping quiet. So what's your point?

“It never ceases to amaze me how many idiots think that there is nothing at all to bow hunting but to get a bow, get some arrows, walk in the woods, and then kill a deer. We've had a new Cabalas store move into the area and suddenly all kinds of idiots are taking up bow hunting and honestly it's quite scary what these idiots are thinking!” Wolfen68

But I am not here to quote other people. All I am saying is there are some people out there that talk and talk about the all the bad things they see with bow hunting, and hunting in general, and never take action. Posting is a great place to start; it is great to voice concerns that you have about the sport. Nine out of ten times if you concerned with some thing there are at least 10 or 12 people that feel the same way. But sometimes it needs to be taken to the next level. If you want a &quot;competency field test&quot; then maybe the next step is talking to you local CO, or game warden, or even local officials, go to town meetings. Take it to the community!

Remy15 get off it he is right. There way too many people who pick up a bow this week and a few days later are in the woods. He also is trying to do some thing about it he is getting people together here. So in in short blow out your hole.

Remy I think you might benefit from reading Matt's post on the &quot;I'm Sick of Some of You Guys!!!!!!!&quot; thread. You have some valid points but your presentation could be better. Why compound the problem by reverting to attitudes you're trying to condemn?

Remy-I can tell the feathers got ruffled. Should have joined the original thread and we could have backed each other up with these pontificating, judgement passing, law imposing wieners<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. It's the great thing about this forum that we can push back and forth without losing any teeth.
