Inexpensive solution to wind direction detection
 

So, what is it? I'd like to put something right on my bow so I can see what direction the wind is coming from at any time. A frayed out piece of yarn or dental floss? I know some of you must have come up with a simple solution for this, right?

I have a 12" piece of white thread on the end of my stabilizer...I also carry the spool with me and hang thread on limbs etc around my stand locations, moves in the slightest breeze.

I just fart and see which direction the squirrels start falling from the trees.

I'm with Rob, a 6-8 inch piece of yarn, usually green tied on the end of my stabilizer. It's easy to see and detect even when in full draw.

alength 4/0 thread and a piece of marabou from my fly tying kit.
the slightest breeze is obvious

I just take a whiz while I'm turning around in a circle. When my boots start getting wet, then I know the wind direction.

Small turkey feather tied to my stabilizer w/ a length of thread. To visualize what the wind is doing behind me, I'll be using one of the commercailly available wind checkers. Puff the powder in the air thing-a-ma-jigs.....

The thread works right where you are, but to see what the currents are doing I like the wind floaters. I've more than once got up in a stand and thrown a couple out. They sometimes will go straight out and all of a sudden will shift and be going 180 the other way out a ways from your tree. Especially if the wind is buffeting or swirling in the lee side of your tree.
