would have asked BEFORE they stepped into the woods. Don't come here and ask what is wrong after the fact ask before...these people didn't know they where doing anything wrong, not everyone had a father to show them the ways of the woods... my GRANDFATHER stating&quot; the only dumb hunter is those that don't ask questions and think they know it all&quot; remember these people ARE willing to learn that's why they DO ask those type of questions....

Well, gee. Couldn't some of &quot;those&quot; people study up with some books before going hunting? Heck no, they gotta wait until they lose one then come and ask why.

FOOLPROOF?
Never underestimate the power of a fool!

What if the &quot;Hokey Pokey&quot; really is what it's all about?

Smitty If they are so worried about learning DO IT BEFORE YOU MISS SIX DEER OR BEFORE THEY WOUND ONE. It's too d@mn late after the damage is done. I was taught how to hunt to from my dad and you know what yes I did know what I was doing before I ever shot my first deer becouse my father took the time and resposibility to teach me and I am not saying I don't have any thing left to learn becouse I do and I will continue to learn. These people have a responsibility to know what they are doing before they actualy go hunt not decide gee maybe I should find out how to this or why this happens after they have wounded a deer. I have nothing against new hunter's at all I do have some thing against a new hunter who buy's a bow and equipment half @ss shoots it in tromps out in the woods and wounds a deer then comes here asking what went wrong that there is just plain plain irresponsible and ignorant those people had no buisnes being in the woods until they knew basic hunting skills. Don't chastise ME FOR EXPECTING PEOPLE TO LEARN TO HUNT BEFORE HUNTING THESE PEOPLE NEED TO START TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTION'S.

Matt excellent post.

Hunter4life87 in many ways I understand your frustration, there are a number of folks here, especially some new comers who I do not quite understand why, but many times when a person has made a mistake or made an incorrect judgement call they jump straight in thier caca with both feet.

The first thing I would like to point out is that anyone who post on this forum with a question or a statement is looking for one of several things, they are looking to learn to become a better hunter, they are looking for data or info/advice, or they may be looking for confirmation of something that they have done.

We all want fellow hunters to be ethical, how can we expect anyone to improve their ethics if instead of trying to explain to them in a polite paternal manner how what they have done is unethical we rip into them with all the vengance of a mad dog.

How much do you think you would have learned over the years if every time you made a mistake or asked what someone else thought was a stupid question you were insulted and viewed as the scum of the earth, because you should have already known that? The only thing you will have learned is to keep your mouth shut and would continue stumbling around blindly in the dark.

Do not get me wrong, if someone comes on here trying to support unethical hunting I will be right there letting them have it with both barrels, but why would someone not seeking to learn and change their ways come on here?

As my mother always said &quot;You will attrack a whole lot more flys with honey than you will with vinager!&quot;

We all are here to learn, share our experiences and better bowhunting, we are not here to try and drive away those who seek knowledge due to a mistake they may have made.

grim, one thing you may be overlooking is, when someone is new to something they can't always think of everything before being confronted with a situation. You were taught by your father, some people don't have the luxury of a mentor. I'll bet at one point you didn't know everything. If you were berated for making mistakes, and asking about them, I'll bet it took longer to learn from them than had you been properly instructed. By saying this I am in no way suggesting that was the case with you, just making a point. Sometimes things don't go as planned. When dealing with a new and confusing situation, it makes sense for a person to ask for help. Hopefully someone has some experience that will be helpful to them. Jumping in their butt with both feet is not productive, IMO. Some posts make my blood boil, but coming down on people may only serve to alienate them, causing them to get a case of the f-its. An email may be a better way to express strong feelings. I understand your feelings, to a degree, and suggest everyone temper their outrage at others they feel are less than adequate.

Phil.

Some great posts here.
Every one should really put on their thinking caps before jumping on inexperienced hunters who have a valid question.

If we dont ask questions how are we going to learn anything?

If some one needs help then lets help them out not chew them out.

Matt/PA only uses that nick name cause in his first post he said there is one word that cant be used here which just happens to be his name<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Lighten up guys life is too short for bickering and fighting.
