You ever watch tv? You see the monsters that come outta that state???!!! I'm not 17 hours, but if I had a legitimate chance at going, and a decent place to hunt, I'd be making that journey quick fast and in a hurry!

I'd say it's worth a try....I drove 37 for a chance at a bull elk...it was worth the drive.

YES!!!! It is deer paradise. Took this buck Oct 31 '04. Went back last year and left with my tag in my hand after chasing a 180 class 10 point for 5 days. If you have the chance...GO. No comments on the cheesy smile. I was pumped. Gross 157, netted 150 and change.

It is not a slam dunk, but depending on the property yes it is worth it. You must be careful to be on private land only after the pheasant opener around November 5th. Public land gets pounded everywhere I've been, including the most secluded properties. Dogs running everywhere. Last week of October & very early November is the time to go. If you have access to private land that will not be bird hunted during November you are good to go.

As a life long resident, I have hunted quite a bit in state but never hunted whitetails out of state so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I can say that while I feel like I have access to 3 really good whitetail properties, I have only taken 3 P&Y deer in 23 years of bow hunting. Not quite what it looks like on TV. I would say that if you have an outfitter that has property w/ animals like what they tend to show on TV it would be worth the trip from anywhere, I just don't believe there are as many out there as what the TV shows would have you believe. I would check out alot of sources before you plan a trip and don't expect open arms from local hunters as many are getting pissed because they are loosing access to their traditional hunting areas due to leasing by outfitters wanting to take advantage of the rush to hunt Kansas.

Kansas isn't quite what it seems when watching hunting video's. The big bucks aren't around every corner like everyone things. The state isn't quite what it used to be, when comparing it to hunting 5-10 years ago. Unless you're with an outfitter or have access to good private land, killing a big one with a bow is tough. When comparing Kansas to other midwestern states (Iowa, Ill.) Kansas hasjust asbig of bucks, but not as many deer.

Does this question even need to be asked? Here's my answer NO Just tell me where it is you're supposed to go and set me up and I'll drive all the way from NC to go. All kidding aside, hell yes I think its worth the drive, but like I said if you don't want to go PM me and I'll set it up so I can take your place;)

Man, if you've got private land and the owner, or whoever has invited you is telling you they have some deer...you just have to go. If not for yourself, then the rest of us.

yes the owner told me to come anytime, his land is more in thenorthwest part of kansas is that a good place for bowhunting whitetails, i know nothing about kansas only what i've seen on tv.

If you do go, and you probably should... (these opportunities don't come around too often, and 10 years from now you would be saying, "I could have done that once...") Take your shotgun, if you do tag out you can have some awesome bird hunting too. And that will be like TV.

Like the other Kansas boys said, the deer hunting here is awesome but there isnt a huge buck around every corner, you still have to put in the time and effort to take a nice trophy.

You might want to check w/ the land owner as to wether or not there are any trees in the area. If he happens to be in one of those areas w/ virtually no trees, you might have a real tough time bow hunting even if he has a ton of deer on his property. The farther west you get in the state the fewer trees there tends to be. Check for creeks or rivers running thru as they tend to have trees and be excellent travel routes. Good luck.

The western part of Kansas is a bit harder to hunt because as mentiond it is flat and made up of draws of woods instead of say like a 100 acres of timber. I have hunted here all my life (Eastern Kansas) and like my fellow Kansans have said the huge bucks are not easy to come by without alot of preperation. But they are here. Google earth you friends land and see what you might be hunting in. There is also a ton of public land in Eastern Kansas that hardly ever sees a bow hunter. You guys wanting to hunt kansas should check it out.
