RE: Opinions: What's the Biggest Mistake in Bowhunting..??
Being too anxious to see where you shot something right away and moving the bow
|
RE: Opinions: What's the Biggest Mistake in Bowhunting..??
Not waiting long enough. Either in your stand or to recover a downed animal.

RE: Opinions: What's the Biggest Mistake in Bowhunting..??
To me its all about the setup...remember, you are setting up an ambush...
I guess this could also be considered proper scouting... And...Thinking that the lastest wiz-bang equipment makes up for the above.. Remember, alot of us were killing deer with bows 25-30 years ago.... |
RE: Opinions: What's the Biggest Mistake in Bowhunting..??
Overemphasis on gear, underemphasis on time & effort. The marketing gurus at Hoyt, Bowtech, Mossy Oak, Scent Lok, etc. would lead a person to believe that if they have a 2006 bow, and are wearing the latest in fashion camo, tagging out will be easy. That's just not the case.
I know too many guys who have $3000 wrapped up in bows, arrows, camo, treestands and scents, and haven't used a tag yet. Their main problem is all the same - lack of effort. They won't put the time in. They lack the discipline to get up and be on stand at daybreak. Then, once they're there, they would rather be back at the truck eating Ho-Ho's or down the road at McDonald's scarfing down Egg McMuffins and talking about big bucks. They sleep in because the weather man said it "might rain," or it's too hot or too cold or they've gotta be somewhere at noon. They don't wanna scout in the summer because it's too humid and hot. Successful deer hunting requiresold-fashionedtime and effort, and I don't think a lot of guys are willing to suck it up andput in the time and effort needed to be successful on a consistent basis. |
