Awesome cheap stand on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods....

Just an FYI.....a bud of mine just got 3 of these. I am going to stock up and get 4-5 of them tonight. They aren't the best stand out there, or the most comfortable, but at $29.99 each I will deal with them. They are even cheaper than the razorbacks I got from walmart last year and these new ones are only 12lbs each. Perfect for what I need, I have a lot of spots where I don't want to make the noise of using a climber going up, and would rather just leave a stand out there year round. I find myself using the climber too much in spots where it would be so much quieter to just slip in and climb up steps into a fixed stand, it also allows me to use trees with a lot more cover than what your traditional climber tree allows.

I want a few extras for spares to use on my PA property, and at this price I don't care if someone steals them.

Heres are pics for everyone.

How do they strap on the tree? A chain or a strap with the lock system?

I will buy 1 or 2 for that price just to have. Thanks.

Hopefully they will be on sale around here. Those Moultrie's that everyone was fussing about were not on sale at my local walmart.[:@]

These ones were strap ons. I hate chains, too noisy, heavy, and I don't like the idea of not cinching it down.

that is a good deal. espicially since they are strap on stands. i cant stand those chain on stands, way to loud.

I don't care, for $29.99 I will stand on a postage stamp....lol. I wouldn't use these for those all day spots, I save my climber and bigger strap ons for that. These are perfect though for those spots where I sit for 3-5 hours though. Just no napping in these things or you might find yourself dangling by the harness........I save my non typical lite for napping. [8D]

Rick,
Thanks for the info. What's the namebrand on these? I don't have a store locally but was hoping to maybe order them off the internet but I can't find anything like you're talking about?? Has anyone else had any luck locating them on their web site?? Thanks.

Rick,

I went out and bought one last night after work. They had quite a few so I may buy another one. Haven't had any experiences with a hang on though, just a climber.

Thanks

i bought 3 last night (one for me, two for a buddy). the platform is 25x20 but it's actually curved so i'm not so sure about that size. i forget the name brand but it's a great deal for the money. looks like one of the easier stands i've seen to put up.

RE: Awesome cheap stand on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods....

2 things to watch

1) squirrels will eat the nice cushioned seat

2) squirres will eat the straps

That being said, they are a good buy for the money. Just be carefull when you climb in to make sure they don't come off the tree.

I prefer using chains w/ a boomer to cinch them down. they are there to stay & they don't make any noise once hung. I personally am going to ladders where ever I can as they are so much easier to get in and out of. Comes w/ maturity/age.

i remember several years ago there was a local sale on tree stands. i think it was the loggy bayou cheap seat.i bought one and they were selling like hot cakes for 25$. i would just make sure your policy is up to date. cheap and treestand dont add up to me.

I bought one similar to that at Dick's a few years ago for $30 as well as 16' climbing sticks for the same price. It's a good stand.....although I've hung it two years in a row and have yet to hunt it! I'm not a big fan of the chains.....too noisy when setting up.

They had the same stands on sale at wal mart 3 years or so ago. I bought10 of them, and they are still being used. I just replace the ratchet straps each year.

You guys that don't like chains,,I would think chains would be the way to go,,especially if you want to hang it and forget it.I would LOVE to find a good deal on a stand that used a chain. You can hang it in late summer and take it out,or move it the following spring,or later. You know the weather,or the squirls are NOT going to hurt that chain. Now the padded seat on the other hand,well....

I always get the Gorrila's when they go on sale. They used to be sold ata local Gallions until it was bought out by Dicks. Once Dicks took over the inventory quantity and quality seemed to go down quite a bit. I dont go there much anymore unless my wife drags me in there. Glad some of you guys are still getting some deals from there.

I have to agree cheap and treestand don't add up... I hope everyone that is hot on these has invested more that $10 in a harness :D

I've used them and they're fine. They did have gorrilla's 3 yrs ago, the baby kong, which is a quality product. These comfort zone ones are not as good mainly in the seat comfort. I've hung one up and they are solid once hung. The model I have this year does not fold up for easy carrying,or you need to attach the last two bolts on site. Doesn't really matter to me since I can drive my truck to within 50yds of the stand site.

They didn't look all that bad to me and both come with harnesses. The welds could have been cleaner. The seat seemed fine. I bought two of them.

I have a couple cheapies like those. I always add an extracam strap to them, up under the seat bracket and around the tree, just for insurance.
