bow placement while on stand
Where do most of you like to put your bow while your up in the tree stand
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I hold it most of the time but when I need relief I hang it on a hook on the tree.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I use a screw in holder i think made by "Gorilla" that i keep strapped to my climber on my way to my tree, when i'm up in my climber i anchor it in just above my right shoulder as i'm standing up slighty 90 degrees from my seat. Most of the time prior to daylight i have my bow "at the ready" till after daylight and usually hang the bow if i need to take a leak, stretch or munch a sandwich.

RE: bow placement while on stand
I keep my bow in the built-in bow holder on my Lone Wolf climber, it's real accessable with minimal movement to grab it.;)
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
E-Z Hanger.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
In a loc on I hang it so I can stand and grab it in one motion, in my climber I have a holder on my seats rail.....same motion.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I'll hang my bow on a hook within half a arms reach so I don't make that much movement.
In the early morning hours I'll keep my bow in my hand ready for mr. Big Rackto come by. |
RE: bow placement while on stand
I guess I would fall into the "other" vote. I do lay my bow on it's side but not in my lap.......it lays on my front rail of my Summit. I can stand up or sit down with no problems.......it gives me plenty of room to move and is right there if I get a chance to shoot.

RE: bow placement while on stand
Usually across my lap, but when I need a break I hang it on the hook/.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
Across my lap...
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I hold it mostly in my hand and have the end in my pocket. One advantage the Oneida offers. The bottom limb sits in my lower leg pocket while sitting and in the top hip pocket while standing. Always in the ready.

RE: bow placement while on stand
You need an, "All the Above" selection, really. I have a bow holder, I have a bow stirrup, I lay it across the top part of my climber and I hang in on a bow hook from a tree if facing the tree. I never stay in one position for hours. Each position I make sure the bow is at hand. Seated it's across my lap or in the bow holder. Standing, it's in my hand resting in the holster. If facing the tree it's in the holster or on a bow hook screwed into the tree. I ususally put 2 or 3 in the tree first thing I get up there. My stand allows me to face away or towards the tree with no big fuss.

RE: bow placement while on stand
i just use a felt covered treestand step.

RE: bow placement while on stand
3 arm E-Z hanger. I wish they made a 4 arm model.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
most of the time its always in my hand you never know who going to show up ;)

RE: bow placement while on stand
I started out hanging my bow on hangers I had screwed into trees. However, maybe it's just me, but I try to refrain from any excess movement when it's crunch time. Having to stand up, twist around and reach for my bow just wasn't for me.Thispast season I actually held my bow in my hand, with the bottom of the bow resting in betweenwheremyleg and the top ofmy boot meet. This way my boot is holding the bow's weight andmy armdoesn't get tired. Already in position to shoot "while sitting" all the movement you have leftat this point isto just pull back.
If your a hunter wholikes to stand for the lasthour likeI sometimes do, you might try holding your bow in your hand, with the bottom of the bow restingonyour waist line. This again takes the weight of the bow off your arm and onto you pants (waist). Again putting yourself into a position to shoot without any excess movement is what may make or breakour chances in harvesting a deer. |
RE: bow placement while on stand
it looks like most of you hang it on a hook . i usually have it in a holder on the rail right in front of me so all do is reach strait out on my left side and I'm ready to shoot. i asked this because i also have a hang on that i wasn't sure where i wanted to put the bow .i think I'll try a arm hanger for that and see how that works out

RE: bow placement while on stand
Bowholder on my seat.

RE: bow placement while on stand
ORIGINAL: MOTOWNHONKEY I hold it most of the time but when I need relief I hang it on a hook on the tree. |
RE: bow placement while on stand
Depends on what part the season it it. Early season it will be hanging on a hook from a tree, and then during and before rut it will be on my lap ready to go.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I put it on my lap soI have basically no movement at all to grab it.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
Depends on my stand but about half the time its across my lap and the other half it's hanging on an E-Z hanger.. I have like 3 of those things and love them for the right situation..
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I lay it across my lap!!
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
use different methods with different stands, mainly try to put it where theres the least amount ofmovementand quietest spot. (with arrow nocked).
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
EZ-Hanger
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
E-Z HANGAR
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I went ahead and marked "across my lap" because that's how I've done it the most in the past.
I have a bow-holder attached to my climbing stand though when I take it out. And this year I've put a bow-arm in the tree by my stand so I don't have to hold it on my lap this year. Post again next year and I'll put the "bow hook" option. ;) |
RE: bow placement while on stand
Got a foot operated holder on the platform - very quiet and the bow is nearly in shooting position.
However, I've got a new on for my new stand that attaches to the seat frame and allows to climb with the bow in place as well. I'm trying it to see if I like it better, but can always go back to the other one. |
RE: bow placement while on stand
Once I am in the stand my bow doesnt leave my hand, unless I need to take a drink or something like that.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
usually on a hook till about 2 hrs before dark then in hand. in the morning at hand till time to go home
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I hold it the entire hunt. Most of the time I rest the bottom cam on my boot tip, but it's always ready to go.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
D: All of the above. Depends on what stand I am using and what time of the day it is.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
Always holding it, or it's on my lap. Heard too many sob stories of a buck sneaking in on the guy without him knowing it and his bow is on a hanger. No thanks. I'm shooting.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I have to get my bow out of my hands because I fiddle with it to much and make to much noise if I hold it.
|
RE: bow placement while on stand
I stand-up forthe first two hours and last two hours and I hold the bow in my hand (try to stand all day during the rut). I try as much as possible to off-set the weight of the bow on my hip (as a few have mentioned). There is a definite market fora NEW productto help with this.
When I am sitting, I hold the bow straight up and down and I too rest the bottom cam on the top of my boot. I will occassionaly use a simple screw in bow holder and have an E-Z hanger (but don't like to carry it with me everywhere - too much added weight in my pack). Maybe I will try it more again this year. It seems that most of the shows I watch - the guys use a bow holder on the tree. |
