I am upset.
Do any of you remember the monster buck I saw above my house? I made a post about it last week and here's a follow up.

O man that sucks! The fine they pay won't measure up to the crime they committed!

RE: I am upset.
You know I just don't get it. Maybe I was raised differently but where's the honor of taking poached game. I started hunting when I was 22 years old. This Friday I celebrate my 39th birthday and my 17th deer hunting season. My father and I never did much together so when my father-in-law invited me to deer hunt it was very foreign to me. He not only taught me the proper use of the weaponry but also the proper ethics involved.
It is sad that this individual never had a mentor like my father-in-law. If he had the mere thought of taking poached game would make him as disgusted as we are here. I now am teaching my oldest son Zach how to hunt. The first thing that was taught to me is being handed down to my son. Always respect the game. Regardless of whether it is pheasant, rabbit, deer, turkey, etc. I can't imagine trying to look into my son's eyes and tell him, after everything that I've preached, that I took a deer like the one HCBF described legally. Of course if this guy is taking game illegally - lying to his kids is probably no problem either. Which is even more sad. You are absolutely right HCBF that is B.S. Sorry, I realize that I'm preaching to the choir but that is just wrong. . |
RE: I am upset.
Because my hunting buddy went and talked to the guys who poached it. He saw the head and everything. They have it in the freezer, I guess they are goin to mount this monster after gun season and try to be proud of it. But how could you be proud of poaching a monster like this buck? Just doesn't make sense to me.

RE: I am upset.
You have talked to them and seen the head and YOU ARE NOT ON THE PHONE TO THE LAW YET???? These guys need to be stopped before they strike again! Not making the call should be a crime in itself!
|
RE: I am upset.
O.K. Brute Force, now do your part and turn them in. I don't care who
they are, they stole the buck by poaching, you are obviously upset about it as most of us here would be. Now pick up the phone and call your local GAME WARDEN. |
RE: I am upset.
Make the call to the DNR. They will take care of it.
|
RE: I am upset.
HCBF, I'm really sorry to hear that. This stuff makes my stomach turn. I hope after you wrote this post you got on the phone with the game warden and reported those criminals.
|
RE: I am upset.
Do the right thing and call the man. If you are scared to do it....make an anonymous call to one of the poaching hotlines. They will take it from there. If it's in his freezer...they got him. If you don't make the call...you have no right to be upset...
|
RE: I am upset.
Call the DNR or it'll happen again!
|
RE: I am upset.
1-800-555...........Make the call. It's your duty.
|
RE: I am upset.
You gotta make the call People like that will ruin it for everyone. Make the call.
|
RE: I am upset.
CALL THE LAW!!! Next years monster buck and the year after and the year after and the year after and so on are at stake! You will feel better!
|
RE: I am upset.
Poachers are scum. They are also thieves stealing the ETHICAL hunters and non-hunters wildlife. Report them and treat them as such.

Poachers--what are they good for?

HighCountry_BruteForce
If you are so %#$@! upset, why don't you borrow a spine and do something about the crime? Do you believe coming here and telling us your sob story relieves you of your responsibility? Not in my book! I am not sure which burns my butt more, the person who commits the act of “poaching,” or the person that comes and tells you all about an act of poaching that they have witnessed and/or can provide critical information to the respective law enforcement agency. The “tellers,” who do not have the gonads to say anything to the poacher, or to report the crime which can stop and reduce further crime, come here to tell their story and always state how they hate poachers, that something, personally, should be done to the poachers and/or their property, or how the poachers should be turned in to the law. Give me a #$%! break! If you do not have the gonads to take action to prevent such acts of crime, and to make the outlaws pay, PLEEEEASE do not come here and expose false ethics and false bravado. You are as bad as the outlaw, if not worse. http://forum.hunting.net/bbs/topic.a...52&FORUM_ID=19 Edited by - c903 on 11/05/2002 11:35:30 |

RE: I am upset.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe that withholding information involving a crime is against the law. Maybe one of our lawyer types can help out here.
|
RE: I am upset.
Yep, first-hand knowledge of a committed crime can lead to obstruction of justice or accessory charges, depending on the mood of the DA. They can throw a few more on top too, just depends on the gaming laws specific to each state.
Get on the horn and blow the whistle, on both them and your "friend". Your "friend" should have called to tell you the good news---about how the guys that poached that monster buck you saw were taken away in cuffs...not how impressive the rack or the stats of the kill. Or at least he should have called to tell you how good it felt to slug the damn poacher up side the head twice :), once for him and once for you |
