New buck shows up

Got a pick of a new guy a few times on my trail cam. I am fairly new at judging the age of deer but I'm thinking this guy must be a yearling. What to do you guys think? I'm asking cause the other smaller bodied bucks I've got on film just have forks. Thanks!

Good rack for a yearling. May be a two year old.

Cool. Thanks for the input guys. I have another photo of him with two yearlings - or at least what I think are yearlings. Smaller racks that look like forks. He is heading away from the camera. And here is nice healthy doe that's been coming by. Haven't seen her fawns yet but I have seen their tracks.

Note: I put about two gallons of corn out each week to get them to stop awhile. But they don't seem to hit it very hard - squirrels and racoons get most of it and there's lots of ag land around. The deer are really taking a liking to the crushed up salt and mineral blocks so I am just going with that from now on. Besides I'd planned to stop soon anyway as no baiting here and I wouldn't want to if I could. I may plant some cereal grains in this clearing next month, however.

I would bet that he is definitely a yearling, especially if the photo was taken recently. Older deer tend to grow earlier and end their growing period earlier than the younger bucks. Don't be fooled, just b/c he is a six point doesn't make him older than a yearling. I used to own a pet buck I raised that was a 13.5 inch inside spread nine point his first rack scoring 96", and he didnt come out of any special genetics. I have first rackers right now that are 8 points and about 13" spreads. Leave em grow a year and you will be suprised what he turns out to be. Last year I passed up a lot of buck with seeing about 3 good shooters out of about 11 diff. buck. Now that location is loaded with bucks that are at least 18" inside and really nice.
