Has anyone else been contacted by The Daily Show?
Just curious, I had an associate producer from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart contact me based on posts I made on this board about doing an interview on the subject of the WHA. I had no problem with being contacted butdue to location I was not able to take part.
Just curious if anyone from this board will be representing the "disgusted hunter" at the concept of the WHA. I hope so,The Daily Showwill make it a very funny piece, but should hopefully galvanize some outrage. I do like the fact they areshowing the sidethat manyhunters are against the concept. |

If you do be careful!! They have a way of cutting and turning things around and making it sound like you are saying things you are not. These folks are masters at deseption. I had it happen to me by FOX news once. I coulden't belive how they lied and cut film of things I said to where it sounded exactatly opposit of what I was saying. Just a little heads up. Once you do it everyone thinks thats your real view people who you don't even know give you a hard time and for months you will be trying to explane what happend but no one listens and those that do most don't belive a great news agency would do such a thing so it really must be you. Its been 4 years now since it happened to me but once in a while I'll still get hey aren't you the guy who said. So please be careful.

I would strongly advise anyone that is passionate about hunting to not have anything to do with something like this. Like said above, they already know where they want this to go and they will twist and tweak things to get it there. They will make both sides look like fools just to get a laugh. I can almost assure you they will not shed a good light on "real" hunters.
I don't get extended cable anymore so I don't get comedy central, but when I did the daily show was one of my favorite shows. John Stewart is just a funny guy. However I have seen John himself say in an interview that he can't believe how many young adults whatch his show for the actual news. He clearly admits his show is not considered news and has no accurate reporting. It is political satire and poking fun of different cultures. If you are contacted about doing this piece I would suggest having a serious discussion with the producers about where they want this segment to go and how they feel about the issue. And make it clear that you are passionate about hunting and don't want to made a fool of on national television. I would hope they would be honest with you, but I wouldn't bet my paycheck on it. I highly doubt anyone on that show is a hunter or has any interest at all in making one or the other look good. Half of them are probably yuppy vegitarians, and the other half may belong to PETA. Then again maybe not, because I think they tore into PETA once, could be wrong about that. If not they should look into that as well. Unless it is that important for you to get on TV and get your 5 minutes of fame. And if someone from the daily show really looks at these posts and disagrees with what I said please feel free to post here, Private Message me, or Email me for that matter and correct my line of thinking. Yep, if they think it's funny, they'll use it without regard for what the message is. They don't care about the message, they care about getting a laugh.

I think the show is hilarious, but I would never grant an interview for sure. I
am afraid you would regret it. |
