Silly question...maybe?

I'm going to Kansas in Nov hunting and am considering getting a gps so as to not get lost. So as I'm sitting here looking at them, an idea hit me. I just don't know how feasable it is, considering I know nothing about a gps. But here is my idea, please excuse me if it is completely ignorant. What if you were to take a gps into your hunting area and marked every scrape and rub you could find, then retrieve all that information, plus the countours of the land that are shown on the screen, wouldn't you be able to accurately map out the best spot for an ambush this way? I dunno, what do you think?

Check out the Field Journals section and look for Joey Rott. He did a two part article about GPS's and using them to benefit your hunting.

Absolutely you could! I've read NUMEROUS articles in which they explain to lay a clear overlay on a topo map and mark scrapes, rubs, trails, primary scrape areas, ect. ect.

Great ideas but I wouldn't do that much scouting during season if your going after a big buck. I do that type of scouting and planning either super early or after season is over. What part of Kansas will you be hunting?

I'll be hunting in Cherokee county, in section a-9. Pretty excited, they found a 235" non-typical there dead last year.

Great idea, there are several topo mapping programs for computers that you can download GPS data into or even upload map data to the GPS. My personal favorite is All Topo Maps (Alaska) by iGage, but I bought that years ago and I'm sure there are better programs now. Shop around at REI or EMS.
