Anyone seen this kinda rack?
October 26 - See this 1.5 year old buck, spike. When he turned an I could see his head from the side all he had was main beams with no times. Not even broken ones. The inside width was just outside the tips of his ears and estimated the beam length to be 17-18" each. Seen him again yesterday morning at 10 yards and again noted no broken tine signs.
Two years ago, in a stand about 80 yards away, I watched what I think is one of this spikes ancesters. A really WIDE racked, BIG bodied buck came within 15 yards of my stand. Went to full draw while he was behind trees and when he emerged, the same main beam characteristics but only 1.5-2" brow tines and the rest of the beams were smooth, none broken. 3-4" outside his ears with main beam lengths pushing 22-24". This was the first time I have seen anything like this on a bucks head and I was so caught up in the sight I let my bow down and watched him walk off. The whole time thinking to myself, "where are all the tines?" Anyone else seen this? GForce Shoot often - Hunt always |
RE: Anyone seen this kinda rack?
Yup! A good friend of mine saw one like that twice last year.
You are right; it's genetic. |
RE: Anyone seen this kinda rack?
I'd have taken him. No need to let him continue to breed and might have made a pretty darn interesting mount, as well!
