Food Sources and Trail Cams
 

To get truly great Trail Cam photos you have to almost get the deer to stop... I think that most people place the camera near a heavily used trail or just plain feed the deer. It's 98 here in my part of Maryland and I am about to put cameras back out. I normally use corn to get the deer to stop and smile for the camera but a friend told me that the deer on his property are basically avoiding the corn. I know that there are many natural sources of food for them right now but am looking for suggestions as to an alternative food sorce other than shelled cord.Does corn sit to heavy and is it hard for the deer to burn off??? Any thoughts???

Corn usually works for me but I find most of my best buck pictures
come from mineral licks.Especially this time of year. You may want to give
it a try. I know in some places it may be illegal so you might check that first.

When I moved my cam. I used corn and had a pic in two days. That was two weeks ago, And I am still getting deer pics.
This is the first time I have tried it but it worked for me here in Pa. Now I wont be able to keep the corn there to hunt of course. But mineral blocks and salt should bring them in and they will be gone thirty days before the season.
