RE: What's The Status Of The Rut In You're Area??
Well In my area of South jersey in burlington county I have just begun to see the start of the rut. When I was out the last time I had a buck with his nose to the ground walking like he was on a misson. It was nice to see the buck but unfortunately he was only a fork. So I just watched him go by at 15 yards.

RE: What's The Status Of The Rut In You're Area??
things are finally picking up here in w central ind.the last couple of days have yeilded alot of new buck sign. and today , while traileing a doe i shot, i found the largest primary scrape id ever seen. it was big enough to park a suburban in. It must have had 1000 tracks in it there were about 10 saplings in it with chew limbs made in every place a deer could reach. the huge scrape was also sporting a dozen or so rubs within ten feet of it.
what do you all think should i hunt it or leave it. hehe |
RE: What's The Status Of The Rut In You're Area??
Things are really starting to get "hot" in southern Delaware. Over the last 4-5 days , buck activity has really picked up. I'm seeing bucks that are seeking does every time out.
Another sign of buck activity is the increase in deer vs. vehicle accidents during the last few days. I'll be hunting every evening this week & start vacation on friday. Next week should be hottt. |
RE: What's The Status Of The Rut In You're Area??
It is getting insane and the Does are hotter than Pamela Anderson. I have seen more scrape activity than I thought would ever be necessary. There is a scrape line with about 10 active scrapes and its about 200yrds in length from first scrape to last. The Bucks especially youngins are out and about noses to the ground. They sure are bold them youngins but they always seem to lead the grandfather to the hottest doe.
Good Luck this week and especially this weekend it should be a good one. Hunting is like life. You plan and practice thinking everything is just right and suddenly the wind shifts directions and it's all over. |

Northern MN It is in full swing. And wouldn't you know it, Its gun season and time for us to clear the woods for the city gun slingers. I'm not saying everyone is like this but I stopped hunting with a gun 15 years ago when I came upon a group from the twin cities that had 45 guys in it. Sorry but that is not a hunting group its an army.

RE: What's The Status Of The Rut In You're Area??
In my area of NY, the bucks are just beginning to seek. Very very little activity in the way of scrapes and rubs. In fact, I've only seen 2 or 3 scrapes and I know of only 1 tree rub. The rut has been predicted to occur late this year.

Still no action here in West Virginia. I did see 2 small bucks today in the rain and they were feeding together. No scrapes or rubs at all.

HERE IN SW OHIO AND SE INDIANA, THINGS ARE STARTING TO GEAR UP. I SAW 3 SEPERATE BUCKS THIS WEEKEND. AN 8 POINTER, A 10 OR 12 POINTER, AND A NICE 9 POINTER WHICH I HARVESTED. MY BROTHER IN LAW SAW 2 BUCKS AS WELL. I ALSO HAVE HEARD THAT THE RUT WILL BE LATE THIS YEAR. I PLAN ON BEING IN THE WOODS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FROM HERE ON OUT. IT WAS PRETTY BORING FOR OCTOBER, NOT SEEING A DEER FOR APPROX. 3 WEEKS, BUT THINGS ARE LOOKING UP! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!
