Fine @ 2yrds. and bad at 3 and 20'. If it's leaving the bow straight and it sounds like it is then it's not the bow. Did you happen to try a different arrow? After trying a different one stick a big fixed blade broad head on the shaft and shoot it. You'll see what it needs then. You didn't say what plastic vanes they were. I've shot 4 different ones and one feather recently on the same kind of shafts. One is noticably better than the others using GT75/95 XT's @ 68# going around 290.
Good point Quicksilver. Those noisie bows of yesteryear were a lot slower as well, still if we wanted to hear a bang when we hunt we'd use a gun and a quiet bow gives a better chance @ getting a second shot. I don't care for a loud bow myself no matter how fast. Now if they made one that could use one pin out to a hundred yrds. ...

If you have the money to waste you can try an sts and see how it works. However I have heard every version of this design (it's not new) and string silencers are more quiet in my opinion, especially puff balls or beaver balls.
I'm not saying the STS does not work, just that I personally feel cheap string silencers work better for much less money. Also keep in mind the closer the silencers are to your limbs the less speed you will loose. Get them in just the right spot and you may pick up a few FPS. And really only need one near the bottom cam if it's a single cam. I tried this for a while and worked just fine. I put two back on though just because is looked dorky to me. Then again my whole bow looks dorky.

Thanks guys. Hopefully, I'll get a call today and all will be right with my bow.
Paul, what's an STS?I'm guessing it must be a stabilizer that dampens sound?
I have a Limb Saver S coil stabilzer on the bow now but I was looking at their new modular stabilizer system.
Please set me straight. I just don't know what an STS is?
Thanks

Here are some pictures of an sts system. The one is a single and the one on the bow is a double sts system. Ive never tried one. I was thinking of putting one on my bow. They also help with the string hitting your wrist or forearm.

The sts, if you search for it it has been talked about quite a bit. I will link to a few threads of many on it.
Thread one
thread two
thread three
website
Fred bear archery used something simular on their bows for a while but I don't see them on the newer ones. If you go their website is shows a bow with one on it on the front page, but when you look at the individual bows none of them have it. Just limb savers and string leaches.
I personally think the PSE NV system works better for reducing noise and hand shock in the bow, it doesn't touch the strings though so you would still need string silencers as well.
I have seen the STS and other products like it on bows but have not tried it yet myself. I am leary of having my string smack something every time I shoot. I was very dissapointed when mathews went to the dampening system they use. Especially since it isn't very quiet to begin with and it looks dorky. I have a 300 dollar darton with 3 dollar string silencers and limb savers on it and it is quieter than any of these string dampener devices.
Just my opinion though.

Hum?? Interesting looking. I'd have to try one and feel the difference.
Hey, how about the mini limb savers from Sims?
It says they are designed to be stuck on your accessories (sights, rest, quiver, etc) affording significant reduction in vibration and noise. Has anyone tried these?

Like I said, I too was a little leary of the STS at first.. I then TRADED a guy for it because of the fact I was unsure of it.. I am glad I traded him for it because it does work and my bow is just as quiet with no bowtech hush kit on the string.. I also gained 5fps by taking the hush kit off.. I left them on the cables though... If your unsure, check classified on archery sites, they pop up alot, mostly due to people selling bows bare and then selling everything else, and also people have been going to the double sts and selling their like new singles... Just a though..

Like was said before, STS should quiet things down without losing speed, but your bow is fast enough. I'd just tie on some good old fashioned cat whiskers. They work great.
