Rage Broadheads???

OK,
what's the scoop here? Anyone use them? What's good, what's bad? Will you keep using them?

RE: Rage Broadheads???

I read what Jay Gregory said but that's really all I've seen anywhere and nothing against anybody but people pay him to say good stuff about certain products. I was just looking to see if anybody had any first hand experience on something bigger than a turkey.
thanks.

RE: Rage Broadheads???

I could be wrong but I believe the Rage heads are new for this year. If that's the case, you're not going to find much first-hand experience. However, I also believe they are manufactured by Barrie Archery (Rocky Mountain) and are extremely similar to their Snyper heads. From what I have been told it isessentially an "upgraded"Snyper. I'm sure there's plenty of folks out there who will be more than happy to give you their thoughts and experiences with those heads.

IMO they look like great heads. If for some reason I was gonna shoot an expandable that is more than likely the one I would choose. Obviously Jay Gregory is using them, and I believe the Drury boys will be using them this fall as well. Those guys are huge proponents of BIG expandable broadheads so if they're switching over I'm sure its for more than just monetary sponsorship reasons.

RE: Rage Broadheads???

I've been reading some consistent reports from a few guys who got their hands on them that are having trouble keeping the 3 blade version closed.
I guess they sort of "snap" into place (no rubber bands) and these people are having trouble with one or more blades not staying put.
From these same discussions it apparently isn't an issue on the 2 blade version.

Not what I experienced, just what I read from those who have tried them.

Not sure why they eliminated the rubber band deployment for this style head? The band does not hinder deployment in the least and is a simple consistent reliable retention system. IMO it requires too exacting of tolerances to keep expandable blades closed without them and too make them close consistently it seems like the manufacturer must "overkill" the retention to make sure they stay shut. (IE Spitfires)

The design of the head LOOKS great , just what I would want in a Snyper style.....more cutting diameter, but If I got some 3 blade Rage heads I would immediately see if there was a way to convert them to a band retention system......Not sure I'd want the chance of one blade flying loose at launch? RE: Rage Broadheads???

I initially saw them and thought what an awesome design.I liked the design and feedback on the snypers from last year a lot and thought these must be even better. Now the guys that are getting their initial shipments over on that other site are saying that the blades don't stay closed in flight and thereis more than one person claiming this...................I don't know if there is any merit to this as I try to take everything I hear about this industry with a grain of salt. I like the design of these heads still, however if more reports keep popping up of the blades opening prematurely I think I would rather shoot the regular old school snypers for my expandable head this year.

Thanks! That is what I was looking for. Sounds like they may be too new to make the equipment list for me this year.
