I think it's obvious. For years I spent gobs of money at Cabela's on hunting gear. It's only recently (in the last 3 or 4 years) that we have gotten a decent sporting goods store anywhere near where I live. Now we have TWO!

So now I try to buy anything I can locally before buying from Cabelas. We went so long with no other options that I want to support them as much as I can. They've both got archery shops in them and some pretty knowledgeable people.

When I got started in archery I had some bad experiences with the local pro shop guys. A co-worker had gotten me started in archery and sold me a bow of his for my first bow but the archery shops didn't want to be helpful if you didn't buy your bow from them. They really turned me off with their lack of interest in helping a newcomer to the sport so I've never really given them my business.

I moved to the east coast in 1999 to work for a summer with my buddies. I used my first paycheck that summerto buy and learn to surf on a 9.5' quiksilver surfboard.

Any surfers out there will understand the emotional attachment. Just thining about that board really makes me reach back in the files...
