Quotes about hunting

What are some quotes you have heard about hunting or in the field? They can be funny meaningful or whatever. They can also be from a freind family member even on tv. Lets hear em.

Me on radio- Watch out when yall are comming to the stand a group of 8 or so hogs went down the way your comming in.
Beau-uh im going to get my dads truck.

Beaus dad- I dont know why he is always so scared out here. I mean he has a 30/30, trust me, hes the meanest mother - in these woods.

(while bowfishing)David- I keep missing them because they are swiming.
me- oh really? the fish are swimming?

I just love being out here. Its beautiful. -friend of family

on tv.
(little girl sighting in on her first deer) "here dad shoot him for me"

its late and i have work. ill post some good ones 2morrow when my brain is working.

A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be.........time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there.

My daughter on her first hunt: "dad, look at the dog looking at us nearthe edge of the woods"

Me: "what dog?"

Daughter (as she points). "that one right there"

Me: "That's not a dog sweetie, that's a deer. Now get ready to shoot it"

Two years ago, on the way home after my eleven year old son shot his first buck with a bow...

Me - "Ryan, I was so excited I forgot to remind you to say a prayer for that deer."

Ryan - " I already did."

In one of the bowhunting magazines an author (Winke?) described the difference between rifle hunting and bowhunting something like this:

Rifle hunting is like seeing a beautiful woman, and bowhunting is being able to touch her.

My favorite one is actually from one of our members Sigs. Please forgive me because I don't remember it exactly or who said it, but I believe it goes something like:

"Meet me at my funeral, then and only then will I be a former hunter."

I'm sure somebody knows where it is for sure.

1. Does WV have a wind season?
2. Do I need Camo?
3. Can I hunt wind out of a groundblind?
4. What Broadhead works best?

I imagine the bloodtrail would be tough to follow

RE: Quotes about hunting

Every year I try to get a deer just to give to my neighbors who are ministers from Africa because deer meat is their favorite meat and they are the nicest people and best neighbors. I took their 13 year old son with me and he and I prayed for meat to take home to his family and it was only his 2nd time hunting. After we shot a deer and found it after searching for it for 1.5 hours he called his mom from the woods and started shouting..."Mom, God gave us a deer, He gave us a deer!" It was great.:D

Im with Greg, " you can't kill them sleeping in bed/watching tv"

Heres my favorite that I heard sometime ago. This is when someone tells a story about a deer that couldn't get a shot on.

"Thats why its called hunting and not killing"

RE: Quotes about hunting

"I hunt deer because I love the entire process; the preparations, the excitement, and sustained suspense of trying to match my woodslore against the finely honed instincts of these creatures. On most days spent in the woods, I come home with an honestly earned feeling that something good has taken place. It makes no difference whether I got anything; it has to do with how the day was spent."

"Life in the open is one of the finest rewards. I enjoy and become completely immersed in the high challenge and increased opportunity to become for a time a part of nature. Deer hunting is a classical exercise in freedom. It is a return to fundamentals that I instinctively feel are basic and right."

"I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow."
