Whisker Biscuit Vane Damage Suggestions

Against my better judgement I bought a whisker biscuit for my backup bow. I've always used dropaways but I'll admit I do like the biscuit so far. My only concern is all the vane damage I've read about. I bought the one with the large size opening as recommended. My question is what type of vanes work best for the WB? Does helical fletching get torn up any worse with a WB?

Blazer vanes work very well, i tried the cheap way out with the dura vanes and I got cheap results. Blazer vanes are about $7 a pack. They are 2" vanes but they perform very well. My fetcher has a helical twist...it works just fine with my wb q2. Also get you some good glue. I came across some great glue called "Duco cement", I bought it at the Family Dollar Store for another application and decided to try it. It works better than the $5 stuff at the bow shop. I paid $1.25 for it. I'm happy with it!

Use blazers and tune it properly and you will have NO vane issues at all. I have an arrow with over 200 firings through a bisquit and you couldn't tell it from a new one.

Sorry to hear...we all make mistakes..sell it to a friend and get a trophy taker or another fine dropaway. No vane contactand free flying arrows are the way to go.:D

Man, once I got my WB QS tuned right, I was shooting 2 inch groups at 40yds easy. No problem except the blazers were still popping off. I switched to a TR Dropzone and the vanes are not making contact, but they are still not holding on well. I think I need some different glue. But the WB is a very accurate rest to say the least. I would use one except my speed is of grave concern with my setup.

Blazers .Also the biscuit is a fine rest, wish people would stop knocking it. Especially when your stalking, and concentrating on the prey, instead of trying to get your arrow on the launcher.

well put...I totally agree...one of the main reasons I love this rest is because I don't have to worry about the arrow falling off and it groups well for me too

What TerryM said. If you want to take the time to actually tune your bow the WB is a great rest. Very accurate, total containment, quiet. I shoot feathers and vanes and no damage other than robinhoods and shooting the same ring. Of course, you will have to actually tune your bow.

Blazer 2" broadhead vanes with the WB = success (especially for a hunting bow).

Duravanes are terrible with the WB. I use Marco vanes and have good luck with them. I want to try some Blazer vanes with it because they seem to have a good reputation here.

After a year with a WB I'd suggest quick spin vanes. I shot left helical feathers at first and they didn't last a week. I also use armour all wipes every week on the vanes and through the WB. Never a wrinkled vane yet.

just put a dab of super glue right on the front of your fletching and you wont have any problems, and it wont mess up arrow flight at all

I fletch Thousands of arrows at the shop and find in my experience and from the feedback the archers tell me and from what I see on their arrows.... A Good Stiff vane like Vane Tec Vanes or Blazer Vanes done Straight Fletch shooting Cock Vane Up seem to hold up the best through a Whisker Biscuit......... if you have properly tuned and spined arrows and your rest is properly setup and centershot set.

Funny I heard just the opposite, DON'T use quickspins with a WB. I just don't get all these threads about vane damage, I have been shooting a WB for several years now and have never experienced this problem. Am I just lucky? I think this is the greatest hunting rest ever invented.

The duravane savage works well with the wb also if you are looking to stay with a 4" vane.
