Great Stuff Target

I had a brainstorm to go get some cans of "Great Stuff" foam from Lowes.
I sqirted 5 cans in a cardboard box and let it sit up for a few days. Well, my arrows go right through it so don't waste your $$$ on that.

Nice brain fart but thanks for sharing.

I bet if you would have layered the cardboard it might have worked, but i dont know ive never tried it.

Really? I would have thought an arrow would have stopped? Are you sure the foam was completely dry and there weren't any air pockets in it?

Hmmm...I guess I'll have to remember this one. Thanks for letting me know.

Go back to Lowes or any like store and get a 4X8' sheet of blueboard insulation or even Celetex and cut it to 2X2' or likeable size and glue them together....

Of course you can simply buy a target. ;)

Yea, go ahead and get yourself a Block 4x4...I just got one for my birthday and it's great.

lol, I can't say I haven't tried a few idea's too. The blue board does work good, but doesn't last very long IMO.

Get some accustic ceiling tiles from a construction job... I throw them away all the time... Band them and they work great.

Or buy one or two or five like I have.

Yea I tried that stuff on a wore out deer target..doesn't work...I have a buddy that filled a burlap bag ful of plastic grocery sacks..works real good and is weather proof.

Burlap bags full of shrink wrap work wonders.

Used to work for an RV/Boat maintanance place and they were always throwing out old shrink wrap in the spring.

Stops your arrows cold, depending on how tightly you fill the bag up.

Hardcore that's what I was thinking too.I have been saving those plasticc grocery bags lately. Also one thing I did recently and it works wonderfull is,I had a worn out bag target, and what I did was stomp all the stuffing back in it,then I bought a cheap 12' 4 dollar tarp, then wrapped it tightly and duct taped it near the edges it worksexcelent, and is like having a new bag target for a fraction of the cost.My next brainstorm is to get enough grocery bags and other stuffing and experiment with the tarp and various stuffings.A few back I thought about doing the great stuff thing, but never did it glad someone did it first ;).

I let it dry for a week before I shot it. I do have a block 4x4 but I was just trying something because the broadheads tend to eat the block up.

Stuffa burlap sack full of empty burlap sacks and that'll stop your arrows.

Or you could build something like this:

I've done that before Bobco...,and it does work good.I used thr wrong kind of foam and next time will use that kind you used, looks like the owens corning stuff.

RE: Great Stuff Target

Yes, you buy it in 50' folded lengths. Home Depot sells it.

Not good for BH. Can't get them out The burlap sack thing I mean!

My buddy filled a garbage bag with that expanding foam and it worked but it was too light. Target and arrow rolled across the yard. It could be that the cardboard box was not allowing the foam to expand enough.

RE: Great Stuff Target

Take the same cardboard box and fill it with Shrink wrap(stuff pallets are wraps with)...works great....arrows only go about 6 inches in the box and pull out real nice.

RE: Great Stuff Target

I've used the great stuff to get some extramiles out of my morrell, just put contact paper on the faces and inject the foam into 4-5 spots and let it dry well. Was able to finish off the season with it. Also old seat cusions from outdoor furniture work, wrapped in a tarp or stuck into a cardboard box

Can you give a list of supplies? approximate cost?

The Great stuff was a nice idea --I thought of that one too, but here's a better way . . .

Look in the yellow pages for foam insulation installers in your area. Usually, you can talk them into filling up a couple big cardboard boxes with the spray they waste at the end of each day when they "clean out the hose." I've been able to get them for free, but sometimes a few bucks will secure them for you. The stuff they use is very tough and I used mine for about 8 years and shot everything -- including BH's into it with no problems. It would've lasted even longer, but my wife had started doing daycare at our house and the little kids tore up my target!

Hope they didn't eat it![8D][8D][8D]
