Default Arrowed buck in my yard this morning!

I was just about to leave for work when my golden starts barking like crazy. I walk to the back window to see 20 turkeys at my corn pyle. I'm watching for awhile when I notice a buck coming into the corn. He turns to reveal an arrow stuck in his ribs!!! He walks right to the corn in the middle of the turkeys and starts to eat! The arrow went in high at the back rib angling toward the opposite shoulder. I can see the wound and it was not bleeding. He got spooked and ran away with a little limp. I could not believe it. I seen this same 7pt yesterday morning and he was fine. I left the house and drove around hoping to find the hunter who made the BAD shot. No luck. The woods near my house are posted with permission given only to me and the owners cousin. I called him and he said Mike has not hunted in a few weeks. I will find this guy. Bad shots piss me off!!!

Well Joe hopefully you can finish what the other idiot didn't, hopefully he is not in a lot of pain and if you get him most of the meat is still good.

Everyone makes a bad shot at an animal at some point. Except for me of course (I've yet to take a shot at anything <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>). At least this buck seems to be fine. It's not like he's been wounded and is going to go off & suffer some horrible death someplace. I'd be more worried about the possibility of someone else hunting without permission. Although who knows how far this buck came to get to your yard. He could have been shot someplace where others have permission to hunt.

That really sucks to see something like that. I found a button buck the other day that had an arrow stuck in it. The coyotes got it pretty bad before I found it.

I'd be more upset that the guy doesn't have permission than the shot. Bad shots happen to everyone. If you say they don't happen to you, you're either not hunting or fibbing. The fact that he is hunting without permission is what burns me up.

I don't believe that anyone is outcasting anyone for making a bad shot. Yes, I agree that it does happen. I just kind of feel for the animal, and hope that the shooter did his duty in putting in an effect to track the animal. In the first case the deer was carrying the arrow and apperently not bleeding. In the case of the one that I found, I have no idea.

Always be careful before casting judgement on forums. It is often difficult to understand the authors message or feeling from only written print.

Yes..Everyone makes bad shots. But this shot should not have been taken. Severly quartering away, looks like the deer may have been almost A$$ too him. The arrow was almost laying on its back. This is a poor shot that no bowhunter should take. I'm going to look around there lunchtime. Hopefully I can pick up a blood trail or locate where the trespasser shot it.

Joe, have you reported this to the DNR? They may be able to help you out with this. Hopefully, you can find that poor deer and put him out of his misery. The guy who did this obviously has no ethics since he is hunting posted land without permission, so I'm not surprised he would take such a shot. Good luck and let us know what happens.

well the &quot;everyone makes bad shots&quot; is a valid statement but i have been hunting for 9 years and have yet to make a bad shot...killed 8 deer so far...not to say it won't happen and i'm not tryin to sound arrogant...well actually i made what i thought was a terrible shot on a doe with my bow, i hit her in the hind quarter but she only went about 75 yard and there was a huge blood trail...but yes nobody is perfect and mistakes will happen.

Buck or doe big or small they all taste the same and are a trophy in my book.

No sign of the buck..No blood. I followed his track for about 50 yds in the mud than lost it. Hope he makes it.
