Am I Making A Mistake?
I am gonna switch back to aluminums am i making a mistake?
|
RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
More info please. Why are you switching?
Shoot whatever you're comfortable with. The mistake is not having confidence in yourself or your equipment. |
RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
Why would it be a mistake? I dont have anything against alluminums. There a little heavier, and yea they bend, but they tune better, there straighter, and sometimes quieter. Carbons i like also. I shoot carbons right now but im going to shoot aluminums for indoor cuase there bigger and slower so i can control them better. Carbons wont bend, they supposadly get better penetration, faster. So just go with what u want and like.

RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
Well I have shot both. Not much difference in them other than I do notice that the carbons do penetrate way deeper.

RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
Gee, there have been so many deer killed and tournaments won with aluminum... NAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... they won't work.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> As they say... whatever floats your boat.

RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
I have hunted with aluminun
shafts for 20 years and dont plan on changing. Less expensive, straighter than carbons however they dont stick in the ground as far as carbons do when they go through a deer. Bowhunting is a very personal hobby. What works for one person may be totally wrong for another. |
RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
I shot 3 different types of carbons before switching back to the aluminums. Once I shot the Easton XX78 super slams I will never shoot anything else. They are an awesome arrow. I like the XX78 better than the 3 diff. carbons I shot.

RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
I shot aluminums for years. Then I switched to Beman's for a year or two. They were fast and I killed just as many deer with them as I did with aluminum, but they had a tendency to split lengthwise--sometimes without your knowing it.
I saw pictures of a guy that shot one of these "unknown split" carbons . . . it had broken when he released and sent what looked like hundreds of splinters (shards of carbon) into his wrist and hand causing him great pain, and a season ending surgery. I've been back to aluminum ever since--with great success. Today's small bucks are tomorrow's trophies. |
RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
DaveH...after hearing that I might just have to switch back to Aluminums....I have had only good results with Carbons though.

RE: Am I Making A Mistake?
Why not consider the best of both worlds- Easton ACCs. Aluminum for consistent spine and carbon for added durability and lighter weight.
I'll be picking up some of these Friday... |
