Got my yellowjacket target

You guys were right - the yellowjacket broadhead target is awesome. It replaced the black hole and what a difference. I've already shot about 50 shots into it and there is very little damage so far. It's the best 40 bucks I've spent in this sport so far. I highly recommend it.

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

I shot the piss out of mine the last 2preseasons and it's just about out of usable places to shoot at. I've turned it and remarked it (masking tape spots work great against the black face) to the point of I think it's had it.
I'll try to squeeze one more season out of it but doubt it will make it.

Nice thing is the old ones make great back stops to put behind the new ones!

Congrats on your new target!

I blew through my Yellow jacket on the first shot right to the fletching and I'm only shooting about 260fps

If you hit it in the middle you didn't. I shoot over 400 grains hunting arrows, with speeds in excess of 300 FPS, and the only time i've ever done that was on an older one that had the center shot out of it.. not calling you a lair, just hard to believe.:D

Hint on the yellow jacket. Try shooting it in different places, if you shoot the same spot you will hollow it out.

I'm currently in the market for a broadhead target myself and i think i'll give the yellowjacket a try.I've heard nothing but positive feedback on these targets. >------------> Mike

What I like about them is the price compared to the block 4x4. I have the block 4x4 and my friend has the yellow jacket. So far both are holding up just fine.

Hey "The Rev" I don't like to be called a liar. I'm just telling you my first arrow into a yellow jacket broadhead target went right to the fletching. Can someone tell me why they have a brown cardboard box in the target.

Annika3, having talked to my proshop owner and having read 5 Shot's results from his testing, I find it hard to believe myself that you shot through it. At least with 260 fps. My shop owner shoots around 270 fps with 475 grainarrows and doesn't do that.

You might have been unlucky and by chance got a bum target. I wonder if you could have taken it back?

I suppose it could have had an air bubble in it or something. The world doesn't make everything perfect. Bad target I can believe, but it sure would make you wonder about quality control. Don't know the process so can't tell how hard it would be to get an air bubble in it when they pour.

annika2 are you talking about the Yellowjacket bag target or the Foam broadhead only target? Because you should never shoot broadheads into a bag target unless you want to buy a new target in a week.

You must have got a bad target. I have 89 ft-lbs KE and mine only go in halfway.

So maybe it's my devious mind at work, but I smell troll of the devious nature. Annika joined, made 5 post, 4 of which were slamming the Yellow Jacket, the other raving on a new broadhead and condemning all the old style tried and true ones. I think Annika is a salesman pushing a product or unpushing another.[8D][8D]

Ive shot mine 100 times and it still stop broadheads dead. Sweet target for the money and there are few times today when you feel you got MORE than what you paid for. Only thing is it sucks for fieldpoints as far as pulling them out and I know its not made for fieldpoints. I believe it even states that on the target somewhere. Anyway great target.

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

I simply stated a point on what happened to my arrow on my first shot. Maybe I did just get a bad target (it is the foam broadhead target). I did buy the Block 4x4 target and it has held up very well to both fp and bh shooting. I'm not trying to cause a stir, I'm just stating facts on what happened to me.

I think this target is thee best for the money bar none!I made the mistake of shooting a field tip in it the first time, and had a hell of a time pulling my arrow out.It blows my block targets away.

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

I, like the others, have not had a problem with mine. I am shooting a 466 grain arrow at 270 fps.
I would suggest you call Morrell (not email, call) and talk to them as they WILL make it right !
IF you did get a defect, they'll fix you up pronto! They have first class customer service! ;)

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

Well after reading all the great reviews of this target, I purchased one from Cabela's. So being that it's a great night here in southern WI, I thought maybe tonight would be a good time to break in my new slick tricks and my new target. After pinning the paper dots to the face, of the 2 sided target (not 4) I backed up to 20 yards and took 3 shots. All were the same distance right but all in all not too bad. The fun began when I attempted to pull the arrows out. NowI consider myself a fairly strong guy, but I had all I could do to pull them out. I got white foam with each arrow and honestly thought I was going to leave a head or 2 in the target. I was proud of myself for not having an arrow give all of a sudden and ram the nock into my thigh, but that was about the only good thing about it. I packed up and headed back home.3 shots! I have an easier time pulling them out of my Block. Anybody have any idea what gives? I guess the possibility exists that I got a lemon target but I don't really believe that. Mine has the cardboard box in the middle and only 2 shootable sides not the 4 listed on the packaging. Or am I supposed to shoot into the plastic keeping the "block shape", cuz that's what the "side faces have". The way some of these posts rave, I really thought the arrows would just slide right out, boy was I wrong!!!!

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

My first Yellow Jacket had problems with one of the layers falling out. I contacted Morrell and they sent me a new free of charge and let me keep the bad one. It makes a good backstop for other targets. I know if you shoot field points into it you can't hardly pull them out but I have not had a problem with broadheads. With their customer service they definately have a return customer in me.

Estaban, it's not a field point target. It's for broadheads only.

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

My second BH target is shot to bits and I love it. I have since purchased a Morrell's Eternity bag for my feild points and I'm very happy with it as well. My first Yellow Jacket BH target was a pain in the butt to pull arrows out of, I thought I was going to give myself a hernia and this was with Muzzy 3 blade 100gr BHs. I called Morrell's and asked them what was going on. I had a new target delievered to my house 2 days later. The new target is the one that is now shot to bits after hundreds of shots. The arrows were much easier to remove. I guess the first had a bad batch of foam or something, who knows. With customer service like that and the 2 great products I now own, I am a Morrell's customer for life! And they are FOUR sided targets. You can shoot through the plastic wrapper. I removed the plastic on mine and spray painted spots on it. I'll soon be buying another as I plan on shooting BH only for 3 months leading up to archery season.

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

I understand that it's a broadhead only target. My post states that I was shooting my slick trick "broadheads" for the first time. As far as the four sided thing goes. Mine has black corrugated plastic coming down from the top where the handle is and up from the bottom as well. So if it is supposed to be able to be shot at the slot of foam showing is only a few inches tall. My target has gray foam faces, with the "yellowjacket" plastic wrapped around the circumference. I suppose that if it needs to be returned I will have to send it to Cabela's rather than deal with Morrel direct?

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

I just went and looked at my target again, just so I can't be accused of "smoking something". My target does have the cardboard center, which is the middle layer of the target. So there is no way my target is 4 sided, I just have the 2 faces. Does anyone know if this an older style and the new ones are truly 4 sided? Thanks

RE: Got my yellowjacket target

I just got my broadhead yellowjacket target, and shot it ten times with fieldpoints. They were hard to get out, but I managed.
The four sides refers to the two main faces, the largest faces. The other two faces are the smaller ones, on the side.
So, if you were standing over you target, and looking at the handle, then the four sides that are not the handle or the ground side are the four shootable sides.
I am skeptical about it though, shooting it from al four sides.
I just ordered my broadheads and a yellowjacket FP target, and I am looking forward to getting both. I cant wait to sling a Wasp SST at that yellowjacket.

Cause I HATE yellowjackets!

I shoot the yellow jacket too.I think alot of people don't shoot their broadheads before season and then they wonder why they miss an animal.

Say bowtech, I have a yellow jacket bag target with the red dots on it and a lot of the times my fieldtips are VERY hard to pull out. I don't like this bag target like my deltas. My delta bags I can easily remove an arrow with no effort. You or any guys have this problem?

By the sounds of it, you have the Jellow Jacket "Crossbow Target". I just bought one, havent test ran it yet though. Just finished painting some targets on the foam.

Does seem kind of fishy that some people love it and appear to have been around the block on this forum if you will and some relative newcomers can't find anything right with it. I shot the pee out of my friends broadhead yellowjacket target with him last summer and am getting my own this year. Seems to be a pretty good investment for $40 plus when you figure it costs you $25 plus for a cheap foam piece of crud broadhead target from wally world.

I have the BH target, the FP target, and the cross bow target for Dads crossbow, and all of them are as good as advertised.
