Team Bowtech strikes again!

Finally, I had the right wind to go out to the stand that I had been waiting to hunt. A 60 acre piece of woods that funnels down to a sugar beet field at the east end of it. I got their plenty early, and went right to the spot I had scouted earlier. 3 well-pounded trails converged their, and there were 3 scrapes within 20 yards as well.

I had just put my stand up in the tree I had pre-selected earlier and gotten settled in, when I hear some deer approaching. A doe and a fawn went by, and I let them walk. About an hour later, I heard another deer approaching on a different trail, one that did not work very well with the wind that I had. It was a 7-pter that was on the smallish side, and I had decided to let him walk as well. Then I caught a movement out of the corner of my eye, and it was a nice 8 pointer coming down the same trail as the 7. I let the smaller buck go by, and when he got 20 yards past me, he stopped. Clearly he was smelling me, as he started doing the typical foot stomp. This froze the big 8 behind him as well, but fortunately for me, he stopped directly broadside to me in an open shooting lane. I was already at full draw, so I picked a spot, and proceeded to put my Acc 3-60 right through both lungs. At the shot he made a half-circle around to the front of me, and stopped not 20 yds. away. He was clearly mortally wounded, as he was starting to sway and his legs were buckling, but I wanted to take no chances, so I grabbed another arrow out of my quiver and shot him again. Another pass through in the vitals, and just fell over when the arrow hit him.

As I went over to admire my deer, and looked for the entrance and exit holes, I only found one entrance and exit hole. Yep, I had hit him in exactly the same spot going in, and it had exited in the same hole as well. Now that's the ultimate robin hood.

For those that care, I was using a Bowtech BK2, 60 lbs., 425 gr. arrow at 270 fps tipped with Rocky Snypers, generating 69 lbs of KE. Both shots were easily pass throughs, but I wasn't too impressed with the entrance and exit holes the snypers made. I think I'll be going back to my Jak-Hammers.

Rod

PS - This is my first attempt at posting a pic. Hopefully it'll work.

Rod,

Nice clear pic too......Team BowTech is layin em' down.
And here's an interesting fact for ya speaking of "Robinhoods" The shaft I killed my buck with last week was with the back end of a "Robinhood" that I yanked apart to use for good luck! First shot with it after i pulled it apart was a buck!(Who says pulling them is bad luck!)
Way to go on your "Robinhood", very nice buck.

You guys are making me jealous...I don't know if I can live up to the hunting success "Team Bowtech" is having this year...I've got a helluva bruiser in my area, I had him at 10 yards the other night in my yard...unfortunately my season has not started yet..going out Friday morning...

Again, excellent deer!

HotLZ, very nice deer & great pic. I'm working on an Ohio bruiser for the team. He's around, just keeping a low profile right now. Soon, soon.

Phil.
"Could you guys be quiet, my dad's trying to shoot."
