I have to hang up the compound so whats a good crossbow
 

My doctor told me today no more compound bows after the results of my MRI. I knew this was coming when Icould only shoot 5-10 shots and my back felt like it had ice picks in it and made my legs hurt so bad they would shake. If theropy doesn't work then I will have to decide weather to go under the knife. I don't want to have to use a crossbow but I don't want to give up hunting either. So I am looking for a little help in picking out a crossbow. I am not wnating to spend a ton of money just looking for a good crossbow in the $400-$500 range.

My dad has gone through the same thing. He now shoots a Ten Point QX4. (I believe thats right) He has been using it for three years and several deer and a few turkeys have met their maker as a result. I have to say the accuracy it is capable of is amazing.

Without getting long winded I'll tell you if you're interested in quality then there are only two brands. Ten Point or XCaliber. The rest are virtual junk. I've sold a lot, I've repaired a lot, and I've sene o lot back to the companies for breakage.

Each has their own assets compared to each other. Best way to compare is to go see them, handle them, and shoot them. XC will most likely be a little easier on the wallet, if that's a concern.

Cros bows have been legal for all hunting in Ontario for years and the 2 names that seem to be always quoted are Excaliber or ten point.

Sorry to hear that, does that go for the trad stuff also? Just wondering.

Don't know anything about crossbows, but if it's something you enjoy, then by all means go for it.

I have fun shooting them myself at shows/conventions.

excalibur phoenix. 175lb draw weight. it's a great shooting bow. the guys had it shooting great groups out of the box. contact awshucks in the crossbow forum. he'll hook you up with dan miller's phone number and addy. he can get you great deals on his bows. ask on the crosbowforum if you havent already. you'll get excalibur out the butt. i'm shooting a horton right now and i'm not happy as of now. i'm going to try to take a turkey with it this next week. hopefully i'll get somthing.

Try searching for a draw-loc, they go on your compound and turn it into a crossbow.
