Create me a pure hunting bow ....
 

I am going to buy a compound again. I will still continue my quest to master a longbow, but I truly miss the accuracy and power of a compound. Anyway, can ya'll do me a favor ? Create me a pur hunting bow - something smooth, accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Choose a bow, rest, sight and anything else that in your opinion is the best of the best. I am curious to see what ya'll rate as THE bow, THE rest, THE bowhunting equipment best of the best. Thanks

I would go with either a Hoyt HavocTec or a Mathews SQ2. As far as rest goes get one of the QuikTune rests, the MicroAdjust 3000 works great. For sights I like the trophy ridge, any trophy ridge is good, or a cross-hair type sight...I have heard the Keller Pendulums are good also. Get some kind of detachable quiver that isn't too noisy when on your bow. Put a doinker 7" stabilizer on it, a bow sling, and SVL Limb Savers, string leech, and anything else you can afford. All this, some good carbon arrows and razor-sharp broadheads and you will be in business next fall. Keep us posted on what you decide to purchase.

Darton Rampage with the standerd two piece Darton quiver. Teflon cable slide, cobra adjustable single pin sight, and I am still working on the arrow rest. I am playing around with the Wisker Biscuite again. I still prefer aluminum arrows and Muzzy broadheads. I like the Rampage becuase it is fast, stable accurate and very adjustable. It makes accurate forgiving shots easy and consistant.

For tree stand hunting- ~34-31&quot; ATA. with an ibo of at least 300 fps. I'd use a whisker bisquit rest with a savage pendulumn. This is my piney woods set up minus the low ata, mines 36&quot; and that's all I'd change on my set up. It's darn near full proof. If it's within 30 yards- which is easy for me to judge- I can shoot it. The WB rest makes tree stand hunting Sooo much easier.

As far as an all around hunting bow- the other guys seem to have it pegged, as long as money is not an issue that is.

for me it's any bow that is light weight and has a shorter ATA.Right now I'm usen a Bear Ultra-lite(mabe a youth bow) maxed at 55lbs.This is an older bow with only about 50% letoff and a smooth draw -n- release. As to what other things to add to it I can't say as the only addition to my bow are a set of limbsaver,string silencers and a simple flip rest.
Find what YOU are comfortable shooting and depending on ya style of hunting the weight factor.

I'd have to go with an SQ2 also. You did say pure hunting - no target shooting attributes here, but still very smooth and fun to shoot.

Rest - whisker biscuit (best hunting rest there is)
Sight - too personal, but I prefer a one pin (no moving parts)
Vibration - limbsavers, cable dampeners, string leeches.
String - nothing but the leeches and a &quot;Catfish loop&quot;
