It's illegal in Montana and really takes away from the hunting experience no matter what reason you do it for. i think it should be illegal throughout the country.

I use does as bait and natural food sources "favorites" as bait...but throwing out a bait pile and hunting over it, Nope, it's illegal here, less its bear and I still just use natural food sources forbear huntin' as well.

Weather one baits or hunts over some elaborate food plot, farmers crops etc it's the same thing as far as I'm concerned. If you not hitting the bush ,finding some good trails and sitting or still hunting good habitat,it isn't any less noble. As long as its legal do it up.
I know the USA a has an outstanding number of deer, and one should be able to succeed with any or all methods mentioned providing you get enough time out

I work on a 6000 acre farm. 5000 of it is cropped. That is a big areafor the deer to feed. Hunting that isn't the same as hunting overa bait pile. Unlike a bait pile, the deer are not all coming to an exact spot to feed. Not the same or even close.

Legal to bait here... but not my idea of how tohunt. Many other methods to choose from.

Not allowed in IA but if it was I would probably do it and have no problem with others that choose to where legal. Nothing is surefire. I've hunted 5 times for bear over bait and have only taken 3 bears. To me it isn'tany different then planting food plots.
