2004 BOW VERSUS 2006

I deer hunt with my bow only. My bow is a top name, is very quiet
has good speed and is dead accurate out to my limit of 30 yrds.I
notice alot of people on here buy a new bow every year why? Is it
for a few feet of speed, different model or just to keep up to the guy
next door.I looked at new bows this year and I really didnt see
anything the 06 model had to offer over my 04 model as far as hunting
goes,just curious.

Being obsessed with Archery and being obsessed with bowhunting are two different beasts.... Some of us poor souls are obsessed with both..... It's fun to buy new bows each year....People that are obsessed with archery often have a need to try the latest and greatest...

Back in 96 I was picked up and asked to shoot on Hoyt's National Shooting Staff which requires a new model each year so through 2001 I owned a new bow and would roll the last years model over....through building my home in 2001 I didn't have the time nor energy to continue the competition circuit so I stepped aside...I've shot that 01 Vortec the last 5 seasons and decide this year I wanted a new bow and the possibility of changing manufacturers so after shooting the Switchback, Tribute, Allegiance and Trykon I decided on and purchased the Trykon. 2 days later I changed it for the Allegiance....I couldn't decide between the Trykon and Allegiance and wanting to change manuf...I went with the Allegiance but still admire the Trykon...and might just own it as well.

I've never been without at least 2 bows, through 01 and 06 I only owned the VorTec....I sold my other bows and again, decided this year with the new technology, it was time to get a second bow....Unless I opt to sell the Vortec and order the Trykon, I won't purchase a new bow for a couple years.....

Well let's see. I started with recurve and killed some critters with it. Then afterr a few years bought a Polar LTD and killed some things with it. I had a PSE Lazer Magnum I hunted with for 20 years. I still own it. Next I bought a PSE SR 1000. I bowhunted and killed a whole bunch of critter with it for about 8 years. Now I've got a Darton that's about 5 or 6 years old. I've killed a bunch of critters with it. You're right, I buy a new bow every other decade or so.[8D][8D][8D]

Just to try something new..at least in my case. Bow designs are continually improved upon and I find it very rewarding to tinker with the newest designs. I have slowed down alot in the last few years though as my financial base isn't what it once was. Two kids, a wife and a house will do that to you....;)

I don't know how people can do that (buy a new bow every year). Good God, that could be/is a little expensive if you don't get a good trade in on the old bow. [&:]

How about '00 vs. '06? I still haven't found anything better than my 2000 UltraTech.

You have to understand that it is tough to respond to a statement such as this. The experience that any given bow provides is very subjective to the individual. I would be willing to bet that any of the flagship bows from Hoyt, Mathews or Bowtech would exhibit certain characteristics more favorably than your '00 Ultratech however, if you are you comfortable with your current bow and enjoy shooting it then none of that really matters, now does it?

If I could afford to, I'd probably buy a new one each or at least every other year... Just to keep it "new". New toys are always fun.
I have an '04 Vipertec. I picked it up at the end of the '04 season. I really like it and can shoot pretty good with it.
I get tempted at the proshop when I see the new Switchbacks & Trykons... But I have to draw the line somewhere since I have a family to support now.
