Release loops or TRU Nock???
HeyGuys & gals,
This may be a stupid Question but I have always used the TRU metal string nock on my bows and I changed arrows recently. I was shooting Easton C2s nd now I am shooting Easton ST Epics. These have smaller nocks and I have to change my string nock to a smaller one. What are the pros and cons of using the string loops over the metal ones? It seems everyone I see is using the loops. I shure would appriceate some advice. By the way, what a difference in the penitration of the Epics over the C2s. Up to 2" deeper in my block 4x4 target. Thanks for your help. Pray for our troops. They are the reason we can enjoy this great sport & our great Country. |
RE: Release loops or TRU Nock???
Metal CAN make noise when you attach your release, strings are silent. Thats my only reason.

MN,
Thanks for the reply. I wasn't shure if the metal ones slow the string or something like that. |
RE: Release loops or TRU Nock???
The "pro" at my pro shop said it does indeed slow your arrow down. Hedid the testshimself.

tried that metal thingy, kept slipping, never really worked.
Tie my own string loops now and they hang in there, will always use them! [8D] |
RE: Release loops or TRU Nock???
used the metal loop for several years when they first came out.never had any problems other than the release pushing the nock loose from the string. replaced them with shorter nocks and never had any other problems. as for it slowing the arrow down because of the string weight it never seemed to effect any of the deer i killed, even out to 40 yds.been using a string loop since 2001. like it better because i can adjust it to length when tying it. just make sure you check the knot frequently and look for frayed string. other than that there was no noticable difference but i am sure some one will have to disagree me.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll try the string this time. I won't attempt to tie it on myself though.

RE: Release loops or TRU Nock???
i think it depends on what release your using, some can eat right through the string, learned by expieriance...

Also depends on the rope you use for the loop. I used to buy that stuff that's measured out in little 5 inch pieces or something. I really didn't last and stretched etc. Len uses this different stuff he has on a roll. It's tougher and last forever. Can't begin to tell you what it is, but it's great.
