RE: CORN
I live in upstate NY and hunt the southern tier. If the deer have a good acorn crop to feed on, they'll eat them till they're gone before attacking the corn. If the corn remains standing, the deer will be there when the mast crops are gone.

RE: CORN
Same here in Central NY - I assume you are talking about standing corn, or a picked corn field. I think some of the guys might be referring to feedr corn. I don't know about you but we still have alot of greenfields, and green browse. Last nights very heavy frost should help them get on the corn fields real soon. I don't usully expect heavy feeding on the corn in my area until 6" of snow is on the ground.
Good luck. ![]() |
RE: CORN
deer are like anything else. they like a variety of foods. they'll eat acorns and corn and peas and other vegetation. They don't stop eating corn all together just because acorns are dropping. or stop eating peas just because corn is available. they like the multi item buffet. ;)

RE: CORN
Haven't seen many deer, here in Illinois, in the corn either. All in beans, or green fields.?
|
RE: CORN
Last weeks hard frost took the last of the green out of our corn. The last two nights, they've been in standing corn, feeding.

RE: CORN
In Iowa we see them around the corn all the time. The deer are paying more attention to the corn than beans at this time

RE: CORN

RE: CORN
The deer have been eating the corn like no tomarrow here in Eastern New York. They changed their travel route just as soon as we chopped it. But there are some still out in our alfalfa field.

RE: CORN
I agree with CrowPecker. Acorns while they can, Corn later.
