First 3-d shoot ever... how'd I do?

I've been shooting a bow for about 3 years now, since I was 16, and I have always done target shooting with my buddies and such but I've never been to a 3-d before. This morning I shot at my first on ever and got a 259/360, here's the breakdown.
12's - 3
10's - 8
8's- 16
5's - 3

I figured I didn't do too bad, I beat the other 3 guys in my group, so that was a good accomplishment. Anyways, just thought I'd share my results for my first 3-d. I want to be able to start shooting 280's consistently at least. The 3 5's were terrible. On 2 of them I hit where I was aiming, the vitals were just small and not where I thought they'd be. On the other one I just rushed my shot like a nimrod. But anyways, that's it.

All that matters is how you think you did and what you wanted to shoot prior to going out. Set your own goals and strive for them. Congrats on your first shoot. Remember to make them enjoyable.

On 30 targets, I wouldn't personally be satisfied with less than 300 if all targets had 12's but that's just me. If you set your goal for 280's, strive for it and when you reach that goal, strive for more but keep it fun....and if you not in for the competition, keep it about hunting. It'll make you a better shot for each hunting situation.

Yea I'd like to hit 300... but then again I wasn't really familiar with the kill-zones. Guess I'll just need to take binoculars next time. It was fun, I really enjoyed it, I plan on going to them about every weekend now, whenever there the least bit close at least.

seems like you did pretty good. Watch out, its addicting. Try to better your score every time and you will win every time you do. Don't worry about everyone else and how they are shooting. Everyone is at a differnt place in their archery career so to speak. Start hunting 12's and the tens will come easier.

set your goals high and don't rest till you hit 'em. I'm 19 too and shoot a lot of 3-D. The key is practice man. Do it every day, lauch a 100 arrows or so a day and you'll start winning your tournaments every time. Good luck and good shooting.

I base my success at 3-D on whether or not I would have killed the animal.... Just like this past weekend I had 5-6 heart shots.... I was pleased, but for scoring, a heart shot gets you 5 points on MOST targets.. I still believe they need to lower the 8 ring on all targets to encompass the heart.....

Man good job I consider it a good 3-D shoot when I dont lose an arrow but sometimes it happens just remember to have fun each and every time.
