Hoyt Creaky on the Draw
My 2 year old hoyt xtec has started making a slight creaking noise at the beginning of the draw. Anyone know what can be done, if anything? One archer friend has suggested graphite in the limb pockets.
Someone's probably gonna say to just trade it in for a Bowtech or something, but I love shooting this bow and can't afford a new anything right now, Hoyt, Bowtech, Mathews, or otherwise. Thanks in advance. |
RE: Hoyt Creaky on the Draw
jones....late in the summer last year my viper tec started making a little noise when i would draw it. I took it to the archery shop....my guy there tweeked it and that was the end of any noises. I kept practicing all through bow season and never had a noise again. So hopefully your archey shop can take the creak out too.

Depends where the creak is coming from, could be a worn out cable slide. Happened to me. Are the cables touching at all where they cross?

RE: Hoyt Creaky on the Draw
You probably just need to crease your limb pockets.

Thanks for the answers everybody!

RE: Hoyt Creaky on the Draw
Mine did that before. The wheels on each side of the top limb that hold the ends of the yoke get sticky. I spray them with wd or what ever and it goes away for a year.

RE: Hoyt Creaky on the Draw
I had anvipertec do the same thing.
Mine was making noise where the cables split yoke attached to the top axle. It was the bushings the yoke attaches tomaking the noise. I just put a light coat of grease on the axle underneath the bushing and the noise stopped. |

Thanks fer all the advice. I used silicon lube (tri flow, which is purported to not attract dust like WD 40 does) on the yoke bushings - didn't do the trick, but I'm sure it didn't hurt to get them lub'd anyway. Then I went one by one with the silicon. Camaxles -didn't stop the creak, limb pockets - didn't stop it, cable slide - didn't stop it.
Then I drew the bow 50 more times to work all the lube in all the above spots and it's quiet. So now I don't know which one it was, but it's my old bow again. Thanks |
