speaking of sights....
We can't have mobowhuntr be the only one to getnew sights....
Please see the photo below of my new Reflex Highlander lefty bow (yeah yeah yeah, I know... it's all backwards and on the wrong side... ;)) I have an NAP Quiktune 1000 rest and a nocked Beman ICS Hunter 340 arrow in the photo. But if you look at my bow sights, I still have this crappy old set of Tru-Glo Brite sights that got salvaged off my old blown up PSE bow. I have removed the red and yellow pins, leaving only a single 20 yard green pin. The sights can't move in elevation due to rust/corrosion. But at least the windage was able to move. I need a new set of sights for this new bow and am considering the Trophy Ridge Mantis V-drive sight (easily converts to lefty). And, while I am at it, I am toying with the idea of switching to a Trophy Ridge Drop Zone rest, like everyone. I mean, I like the NAP Quiktune 1000 rest, but it is/was real tricky to get the centershot and prongs aligned right. I am looking for opinions, suggestions, options, to really enhance the bow. |
RE: speaking of sights....
Butch......my apologies...all this talk of my new sights making you jealous??? :D:D:D
I also like the Trophy Ridge V Drive, I just really didn't like the price tag. Not that my Star Track is any cheaper, but since I work at the shop I get everything at cost. ;) Are you looking for a single pin mover or multiple pins? Single pins are plentiful and TruGLo makes one if you like those. Cobra makes a new one this year, the King Cobra 1. It's also good quality. HHA is another, the list could go on a while. Multiple pins, well, IMHO the Cobra Sidewinder is one the THE best out right now. As far asthe rest, I like you, was shooting a prong style and it was just pissing me off. I put on the Drop Zone and watched all my troubles go down the drain. You will most certainly like. Oh, and Butch? If you turn that thing upside down it'll all be on the right side again......yer just backwards....LOL :D |

ORIGINAL: mobowhuntr Butch......my apologies...all this talk of my new sights making you jealous??? :D:D:D Hey, you can't have all the fun with tricking up a bow... ;) I need to toss out that old rusted, correded, crappy set of Tru-Glo sights and start over. I put them on so I could try out my bow, get it tuned up and shooting good. Now, I need a GOOD set of sights that will last a long time. I am really looking at the single pin sight/locking pendulum sight. I saw the Trophy Ridge sights and got really curious about them. There are other single pin/pendulum sights out there as well. I know what you mean about the prong rest. It is setup, but I did notice a teeny, tiny, mark from the cock vane on the rest, but it is not enough to affect anything or affect the arrow flight. The cock vane clears the rest by probably 1/16 of an inch, so that's why it's so close. You are right though... The Drop Zone rest would solve all issues! |
RE: speaking of sights....
ButchA, I've got the TR Rhino and I really like it. I had a Nitro Extreme before this and liked it, too. I liked the idea of the vertical pins but after I got the Nitro I wasn't sure. I think it was just because I was used to the horizontal pins. I stuck with the TR and now can't imagine going back to horizontal pins. Trophy Ridge is on the pricey side but seems like a lot of the other brands are catching up. The TR products I've had have been very good quality. mobow mentioned some good looking sights. Theirs also Spot-Hogg, Toxonics, and Viper you might want to look at. Its tough deciding because you'll want them all.:D I'm still using the Whisker Biscuit but if I was to change I would certainly consider the TR Drop Zone.

RE: speaking of sights....
I have the cobra easy slide single pin sight. I wanted the brightest I could find that was a single pin and this was it. It just stood out among all the other sights ont he shelf around it with its brightness.

RE: speaking of sights....
I had bad experience with Trophy Ridge sights, one of the pins caught on some brush on the way out of the woods and broke. The pins were plastic then, they may be metal now I don't know. But for the price of their sights it should have been more durable, also had a probelm with the sight coming loose on the vertical axis after a lot of shooting. JMO. I love my Impact Archery cosmic ring though, THE brightest sight on the market even without a light.

RE: speaking of sights....
The pro-shop I frequent doesn't carry Trophy Ridge sights anymore because of this.
The problem wasn't so much just that they broke, but that T.R. wanted to charge to have them repaired. |

RE: speaking of sights....
Yes, it is. We carry their rests, but not the sights. Of course, if you REALLY want one, we'll order it.
